the last film you watched thread

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - I enjoyed this movie. A lot like the book but with a few changes.

This past Saturday I saw "Deepwater Horizon" starring Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell. The movie was so-so.

Yesterday I saw "Snowdon" starring Joseph Gordon-Levett directed by Oliver Stone. The movie was very slow moving. I thought the movie was so-so. Joseph Gordon-Levett did an excellent job portraying Edward Snowdon.

Star Trek (2009)

Our impoverished time doesn't seem to regard compliments like "handsome", "quiet" or "subtle" as rich praise, but there is all that wealth to enjoy in The Illusionist (2010).

The Girl On The Train - I thought it was good. Just like the book and Emily Blunt was great.

A Turkish phantasmagoria. Baskin (2015).

Unpolished, but I think the director shows promise.

Last night I saw "The Light Between Oceans" starring Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Rachel Weisz.

It was an excellent movie. Check it out!

A Turkish phantasmagoria. Baskin (2015).

I never knew there was a documentary on the ice cream guys! Thank you for the recommendation. ;)

All kidding aside, it's good to see in this thread some title recommendations (especially international or independent stuff) I might never've come across, or at least not for a fair while, unless I was a huge genre collector. So thank you for that! I'll check it out.

I'll check it out.

The director, Can Evrenol, has made some very good short films, especially if you are interested in H.P. Lovecraft, and all of which I think are worth finding online. I'm not sure I would especially recommend Baskin ("Police Raid" in Turkish) in general, I'm afraid. It has some great imagery, but suffers from weak plot and bald exhibition.

A few good international 'scary' or weird movies I can really recommend are Kuroneko (1968), Martyrs (2008), Little Otik (2001), Picnic at Hanging Rock (1979) and Suspiria (1977).

Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping

Did you like it? Critics seemed really divided. Some thought a razor-sharp parody of JB and the whole ability to become that kind of a star today - some thought it tired and falling flat with the exception of a scant few jokes.
