the last film you watched thread

Taxi to the Dark Side (2007) the appalling and demoralizing documentary on the Bush administration's use of torture.

Santa Sangre

its very weird and strange but oddly beautiful in a creepy sorta way. one of my favorite films ever.

"This Means War" - Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy. Better than expected, very sweet, with lots of action.
"The Perfect Host" - David Hyde Pierce. He plays such a freak and does it really well, highly recommend this one.
"Death Sentence" - Kevin Bacon, Kelly Preston. This one was really intense, full of action and revenge, really good.

Moonrise Kingdom.
Wes Anderson's latest film.
This is my new favourite film. I saw it twice (very rare for me) and loved it more the second time.
Really, go and see this film. It is one of the sweetest, quirkiest, funniest and most uplifting films you will see. Great cast, beatifully shot, great soundtrack.

John Carter on Mars which was better than I expected but a little hard to grasp the complete storyline. Great special effects and as usual the bad guy is the guy who played Moriarty in the Sherlock films with Downey. They need to find some other actors to play villians.

Hugo. Rather incredible effects and story. Caught me by surprise.

Prometheus in Imax 3D.

It really is an Alien prequel. But that does not mean you should expect a movie full of Giger aliens and a pre-incarnation of Ripley. But it contains a a few key scenes to just whet an Alien fan's appetite for some more of their favorite parts from that movie. I give it a 3 out 4 stars.

I expected life...and I lived.

finally saw Prometheus. i actually really liked it and i liked how they kinda answered some of the questions from later in the movie series and opened a new set of questions for the future. i hope they make a sequel

Last night I watched Mysterious Skin. It was awful. It was probably the worst gay-themed film I have ever seen. Essentially, it's just about molesting children and how screwed up the children are later in life. Though I enjoyed the message of the film, the seriousness of hurting children, I couldn't get past the continuous flashbacks of rape. The rape of a fully grown Joseph Gordon Levitt was too difficult to watch as well. The movie was so distuurbing that for moments in the film, I felt guilty just for being a gay person. No gay film should do that.

I saw a matinee showing of Prometheus the day after its release. Its beautiful to look at but there are maybe three characters in the whole movie who actually come across as interesting and somewhat fleshed out. The rest are excuses for plots to unfurl and move the story along. There is a heavy-handed way things play out for the characters that I did not like. Everything else was okay but barely hitting its marks. The whole beginning was pointless, it could have been cut it. They could have started with David on board the ship etc. As a prequel to Alien it will disappoint many fans but I enjoyed Noomi and Michael the most. Charlize was also interesting but her role is a thankless one; the heavy-handiness mentioned above regarding her fate.

Prometheus - do disappointing
No likable characters
Michael Fassbender is eerily hot
Bummed

Something's gotta give - Nicholson and Keaton
Spectacular

This weekend we saw:

John Carter, loved it, better than we ever expected it to be.
Immortals, absolutely brilliant and the lead guy is so freaking gorgeous!

Immortals 3D

Contraband

I really liked both on them.

Moneyball. I liked it alot. I'm not even a big baseball fan, and I was easily able to appreciate the story and acting. Highly recommend.

I just got the Blu Ray of Ladyhawke and watched it last night. One of my favorite films!

+1
