the last film you watched thread

Sleep Tight by Jaume Balagueró, same director of REC.

Without giving away a lot, about a man who is unhappy himself and the only way to make himself happy is to make others unhappy and he does that, in very uncomfortable and creepy ways. Real solid.

If you read several really bad write-ups about a film do you still go to see it at the cinema?

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, it takes quite a bit for this film to really build up. Though it does get good in the end and when there is actual gore, it is really good. My boyfriend enjoyed it more than I did.

Texas Chainsaw is great, foreboding, disturbing and violent in all the right ways when it comes to a horror movie.

Edit: We also watched Alien, will never get tired of this film. Seen it plenty of times and the part with Dallas actually made me jump.

Agree with all you said. "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" (aka "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue") is awesome as is the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Alien" :)

Usually depends on the film, but I have and I have enjoy some of the films I saw anyway. Although I can see why people might not have liked the films.

Is it a director or actor you're interested in?

Did a trusted friend say it was good?

Then, yes.

Otherwise, I wait until I receive more opinions.

Hmmmm..., I'm close to queuing Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, especially on the strength of that trailer. Bongos + Zombies = strong possibility of fun. This close...

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night

I thought this was decent, though a bit slow. There is still good in it, good cinematography, has a good enough story to move it along, it is just the pacing that I feel hurts it a lot.

Good soundtrack. As far as similar movies go, I thought Only Lovers Left Alive was far superior.

I went to see the film with bad reviews. It was "Cézanne & Moi" and typically French.

You really needed a good command of the French language and French culture to follow it. You had to concentrate permanently in order to follow the history and needed a good basic education in French literature to follow what was happening and who was who.

So it definitely wasn't my favourite film this year.
