the last film you watched thread

Kong: Skull Island. The best Kong yet but no Empire state Building. All takes place on the mysterious and monsterous island.

Resident Evil: Vendetta. Pretty cool movie. Definitely better than any of the live-action crap.

Every now and then I post this plea in this thread:

Please, please tell me about the movie you watched.

A link, a summary, a trailer. Something. (Preferably not a vague reaction.)

75% of the time I have no idea what the last movie one watched was about when one merely mentions the title. Sometimes I'll google it. Mostly I don't.

Likewise I assume most readers don't google the movies they don't know anything about, and that's when one is effectively posting to nobody.

For 10 idyllic years, young Mija has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja - a massive animal and an even bigger friend - at her home in the mountains of South Korea. But that changes when family-owned, multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and transports her to New York, where an image-obsessed and self-promoting CEO has big plans for Mija's dearest friend. With no particular plan but single-minded in intent, Mija sets out on a rescue mission.
Initial release: June 28, 2017 (South Korea)

One of the things this movie does well, that makes it a harder watch, it shows you what it's like when it comes to the meat industry. It can be very upsetting, it was for me. I think this movie does a good job to make you question where your food, specifically meat, comes from, what's in it and how animals are treated in the warehouses where they make meat. It's awful but I'm glad the movie shows it. It's upsetting and it should be.

San Andreas

I'm not usually into Hollywood blockbusters but a friend loaned me the blu ray while I was sick with a cold. Perhaps it was the cough syrup. I loved this over-the-top action film. Very entertaining.

Yeah I thought it was good too! Great special effects!

Baby Driver

Talented getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After meeting the woman (Lily James) of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his shady lifestyle and make a clean break. Coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Really big fan of Edgar Wright and this movie keeps it that way. Movie is really fun, music plays a big part where scenes revolve around it, a lot of great characters, really fun sense of style as well. It was just all around a good time of a movie, it knew what it was and it executed it very well.
