the last film you watched thread

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Harke the Boeotarch, apparently. :)

Last night I watched Lazy Eye.

It was decently well acted and the men were sexy and authentic, but it was a bit of a dull talkfest without anything particularly insightful to offer. It was pretty tedious and superficial for the most part, and it was littered with redundant flashbacks that simply depicted past interactions as the characters had already described them. Visual representations of stories that had already been told.

At the very least it served as a weak springboard for conversation about the ways we settle for stability or to what degree we've actually changed over time and how it might compare to our own perceptions, but that's more of a credit to my company than the movie itself.

I didn't really like it.

Ready Player One - Again! So good!!!

Saw it again this weekend too, enjoyed it even more the second time.

Watched Highlander for the first time last night, it has it fun 80's cheese and it's entertaining, but if I'm going to be a critic about it, the first half is way stronger than the first. I feel like the second half kind of falls a part.

Rampage

A nonsense arcade game adaptation that doesn’t take it seriously and that’s a good thing. All the monster stuff was real fun and it was actually a bit more violent than I expected to be. I mean it’s not gory but for a movie for the general audience it was more than expected.

Love, Simon.

I'm probably not the target demographic and thought it was more than a bit cheesy, but I'm very glad it exists and more importantly that it's had such a positive reception.

Insidious: The Last Key (2018)

My least favorite Insidious film...

It is definitely cheesy, but I did enjoy it. Though I'm a bit of a sucker for high school era movies. Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favorites but that one is pretty depressing.

I really liked the Perks of Being a Wallflower too. It was my favourite movie for quite a long time. Ezra Miller as Patrick was a definite highlight for me.

Apparently Stephen Chbosky (who wrote the book) also directed the movie and I'm really curious to read the source material to compare. Hopefully one day I'll get around to it.
