the last film you watched thread

- Im just not deep enough. I absolutely hated it. One of the worst movies Ive watched (and didnt get)

As I was watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, it occurred to me it is even more prescient today than it was in 1968. Think, what happens when an Artifical Intelligence gets bad data.

Airheads (1994)

"Three band members hoping for a big break head to a radio station to play their demo tape and wind up holding everyone hostage with plastic guns when the head D.J. refuses to play them."

I haven't seen that one in eons. Used to come on a lot on the Disney Channel back in the day. Did you like it?
Not as much as I did back in the day. I like the nostalgia it gave me, though. :)

Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown, We have seen it many times, it just great. Almodovar is one of my favorite directors. Lucky that I can speak spanish because the subtitle translation lacks the passion of the dialogue.

Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain (1995)

"A city girl teams up with a tomboy to solve the mystery of Bear Mountain, Molly Morgan, and the buried treasure as well as learn about true friendships."

Rocketman (2019) "Young Reginald Dwight changes his name to Elton John and collaborates with singer-songwriter Bernie Taupin to become one of the most iconic figures in pop history. Set to his most beloved songs, it's the epic musical story of Elton John, his breakthrough years in the 1970s and his fantastical transformation from shy piano prodigy to international superstar." - I had seen it before and still really liked it this time!

Pokemon Detective Pikachu (2019) "After the demise of his father, Tim travels to Ryme city where he runs into his father's Pokemon partner, Pikachu. They team up and try to work on the case left unfinished by Tim's father." - It may be considered a kids movie but I still enjoy this one.

Midsommar (2019)

"A couple travels to Sweden to visit a rural hometown's fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult."

Man of the House (1995)

"A young boy refuses to accept his mother's new boyfriend, a lawyer, despite the man's attempts to win his respect. Meanwhile, disgruntled relative of a criminal he prosecuted seek revenge."

The Harlem Theatre Documentary - solid 10/10:=D:

Camp Nowhere (1994)

"A group of junior high kids don't want to go to summer camps chosen by their parents. They make their own adult-free camp and "hire" an ex-drama teacher to help."

What Have I Done To Deserve This, another Pedro Almodovar movie. Very good.

Free Willy (1993)

"When a boy learns that a beloved killer whale is to be killed by the aquarium owners, the boy risks everything to free the whale."

Escape Room (2019)

"Six strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms and must use their wits to survive."

Parasite (2019) "Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan." - I love this movie!

Friday the 13th (1980) "A group of counsellors are brutally killed one by one at a summer camp held at the Camp Crystal Lake, when the entrepreneur Steve Christie reopens the site, which was shut for years." - Cheesy but fun.

Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019) "When it's discovered that the evil Emperor Palpatine did not die at the hands of Darth Vader, the rebels must race against the clock to find out his whereabouts. Finn and Poe lead the Resistance to put a stop to the First Order's plans to form a new Empire, while Rey anticipates her inevitable confrontation with Kylo Ren." - I may be in the minority but I still quite enjoy this movie.

Little Women (2019) "In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling, Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops a devastating illness that brings the family back together." - A great adaption and of course there is the added bonus of Timothee Chalamet.
