Last night I saw "Barbie." I was disappointed in the movie. The jokes were extremely corny. The best part of the movie was the message at the end of the movie. All the Ken's in the movie seemed extremely gay!
I don't like the movie at all. It is so feminism and anti-men.
It makes the men in the movie look so dumb and stupid.
I can understand female empowerment but you don't have to bring down men just to bring up women.
This Barbie movie is like a propaganda movie made by a woman for women to feel good about themselves.
The Kens in the movie are so dumb and stupid.
Example :The Kens build a "wall" to stop people entering and leaving Barbie land.
But the "wall" is really just a narrow vertical blocks of bricks?
How can anyone be so dumb?
And all the big, strong Kens got defeated by one Allan?
How can Allan defeat all the Kens during fighting? They are all bigger and stronger than him.
The movie claim that the real world is "patriarchy" .
Yet in Barbie land, all the barbies are doing the same thing to Kens (matriarchy) , just in reverse.
How are they, all the barbies any better than all the men in the real world? The hypocrisy.
And in the end, the barbie land goes back to matriarchy. The Kens didn't get equal treatment. They only get slightly better treatment.
And the Kens will only get better treatment if the women in the real world start getting better treatment.
So basically, barbie land is doing the exact same thing as the real world. The hypocrisy.
Well, I guess women and feminists will enjoy this kind of men bashing movie.

So -- and this is a sincere question -- what changed your mind? I hope it wasn't just having two of us frown at you ...
I think for a long time and I realised that it is just a movie and I am just overreacting.
Actually, the movie isn't really men bashing.
At the end of the movie, the Kens learn to be independent.
And one of the male characters, Allan is actually likeable.
Barbie is created for girls, so I guess it makes sense that barbie world is matriarchy.
I can understand and acknowledge that many women have to deal with many bias, discrimination, prejudices and inequality in the real world.
But at the same time, as a man myself, I don't have an easy life in this world just simply because I am born as a male.
I have my everyday struggles and hardships to deal with.
I wouldn't want to live in a patriarchy world.
And I wouldn't want to become a toxic male who hates women. (misogyny)
I think that it is about finding a balance for both genders in the world.
If anything, this barbie movie raise more awareness for women's issues and rights.
So yeah, I can understand and acknowledge the hardships and struggles that women have to deal with in the world. And by doing so, I can learn to respect women too and treat them well.

I just have one thought:
I think that many women (including director/screenwriter Greta Gerwig and producer/star Margot Robbie) would tell you that we do live in a patriarchy world and that too many men, including well-meaning guys like us, simply don't understand that. I think that's one of the main points of the movie.
Sure, our patriarchy in North America isn't anywhere near as severe as, say, Afghanistan under the Taliban, but it is there.
It's like how so many straight people don't understand why we'd want a Gay Pride week or month (and some think they should have a Straight Pride Month). Well over 90% of the world is straight (and a good number of the remaining ones who aren't straight pretend they are). The entire world we live in is about straight people, and most straight people can't see that any more than fish can see the water they swim in or we're aware of the air we live in before people teach us when we're children that it's there.
Part of the movie's point is to demonstrate, through big, exaggerated, fun satire, that the patriarchy really is there -- and, especially, to let women know that no, they're not crazy or imagining things; yes, the patriarchy is there; and yes, it's unfair and you're not wrong to feel that way. (Remember, women are constantly getting messages to the contrary of that, and a lot of men don't even realize those messages are there.)

The story is quite unique and different from other horror movies.
