the last film you watched thread

I post most often in the Current Events/Political forum. So, naturally Lincoln would appeal to me. A very well-crafted film. It's easy to see why it was such a strong presence at the Academy Awards and why Daniel Day-Lewis won his third statue. Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones are also terrific.

and of course since you're a frequent poster in the political section of these Forums, you possess the astuteness to discern the historical inaccuracies of the "Lincoln" film, as well.

that's a nice film. My sister liked it too, more than the other old films I made her watch :)

Last Saturday night we had a double feature. This Must Be The Place and God Bless America. We choose the first based on the fact that it seem very weird and that Frances McDormand was in it and we think she is amazing, that said. The movie turned out to be an amazing journey into the lives of the characters, everyone was great, Sean Penn was incredible as the rock star freak, the story is fascinating, intriguing and we found ourselves glued to the screen. Very good indeed and one of those that you have to see more than once.

God Bless America, yes indeed. This is quickly becoming a cult classic at our house. It is brilliantly written, directed and executed. You can help but to cheer for the lead characters and their cause. It was written and directed by Bobcat Goldwaith and I must say he knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend it

Predictably awful things happen to a 16 year old girl abandoned by her mother in blighted Estonia.

Lilya 4-Ever (2002).

An interminable, pretentious adaptation of a Clive Barker short story. Dread (2009) A nitwit tortures his victims after they "divulge their fears" for a collegiate art piece.

The Adjustment Bureau

Rango

Battle: Los Angeles

Red Riding Hood

Mars Needs Moms

Jane Eyre

Limitless

The Lincoln Lawyer

Sucker Punch

I really liked this movie, she had some great outfits too. Justin Timberlake was such an adorable geek. Have you ever seen "Very Dad Things"? She is amazing in it.

I don't go to cinemas a lot but watched Oblivion with my family last week. Was ok. Love the graphics. Tom Cruise still looks hot as ever :p

I felt Oblivion was far too long. The middle of it lacked something but overall it was an ok film.

Last film I seen was the Croods. It was decent and pretty much what you expect from an animation.

Really? I assume it's actually common for movies to be 2 hours long. Or do they change the format of showtime for most movies these days? (Sorry I did't watch a lot of movies, more of a Tv series kind of person).
Yeah I feel like in the middle they didn't establish much. I like the opening though. I was actually convinced of the aftermath that it was like a sequel to some epic end battle alien vs earth movie. I do get really suspicious of "Sally" though. The way she talks....

Croods is pretty hilarious esp the sloth saying dam dam dam lol!!!!! I'd say whoever did the effects for the film must be (ww)
There are a lot of explosions in the film and I can't imagine how heavy their scene file is when they render it. Must need some super high tech computer.

I was expecting to dislike Inglorious Basterds as much as I disliked Django Unchained. But I was pleasantly surprised that its exaggerations aren't merely cartoons, and the characters are realer. Tarantino promises a third. Wonder which direction it'll go.

Years ago I began Dogville (2004) and wasn't having it. But I like LVT and am glad I revisited it. I think I need to add Our Town to my queue now, though.
