Last night I saw "Begin Again" starring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley. Adam Levine makes his acting debut. I enjoyed this movie. CeeLo Green has a small role in the movie as well.

I enjoyed the film and even though it used a few jump scares I felt that the movie was properly creepy in its setting and atmosphere.

I remember watching this...one of my favorite horror movies. I agree the entire atmosphere of the movie is creepy.

The Purge. Not a great film but the concept of 12 hours where the rich can slaughter the poor disturbed me.

It seems he also did that in Cet obscur objet du désir/ That Obscure Object of Desire (1977) where one character is played by two different actors.

I knew it was going to be good, but I wasn't expecting it to be that damn awesome! The CGI is incredible, the acting is fantastic, and the story is exciting throughout. I might have to go see it again.
MRS's Browns boy's, honestly i almost peed with the dialogue, the acting and the whole bloody premise of the story, 9/10 from me..

Yes Chris Pine was a major factor as one I'll watch anything with the Star Trek cast in it and two I have a major crush/lusting on/for Chris Pine.

Rise of Planet of the Apes. Liked it but hate CGI Apes yes I know it was moulded on Andy Serkis but seriously looked dated and it's just a few years old. Liked the nudges to the original/source material through it. Probably going to see the sequel tonight. Watch Batman Under the Red Hood after Apes, another good DC Animated film.

The Thing: John Carpenter's remake from 1982.
The Thing: 2011.
1982:The original remake is loads of fun and has some genuinely creepy sequences, some inventive FX work. Some of have aged reasonably well while other moments (the part where the guy's head eats the other guy's head) are unintentionally hilarious. The ending is perfect as it doesn't try to resolve anything and leaves some dread.
2011: This prequel/remake is alright but it feels off kilter. There are some scenes which are flat and do kind of cheapen the thrill. With the advent of visual effects, this film makes the older film look well... dated. The CGI is not very convincing in most segments. Still. you see more and the film makers are able to do more but did we really need to see so much? Yes and no!
One thing I always wondered about The Thing, why does no one try to talk to the thing? Especially when it is in human-ish form!
I know the school of thought would be something like this:
Perhaps it is an automatic response that when discovered it loses co-hension amongst its individual parts scattering for the nearest hiding spot.
That's the other thing, is the thing made up of a bazillion life forms?
Still, if they ever decide to do a final story that resolves the mystery than I would hope that a future hero or heroine would have a scene where it calms the creature down enough before it goes all break-aparty and convinces it to converse. That could be an interesting conversation.
