The latest assault on men and boys: "Toxic Masculinity"

relax.

it is only a university program.

and everyday we are being treated to toxic masculinity in the seizure of America by team Trump.

^
Point well taken. On the other hand, it's crap like this that helped lead to Trump's election.

This anti-male mindset is something that's becoming far too common, and it's even socially acceptable. It's not just on college campuses either.
How could anyone view this as "progressive"? If feminists want to be taken seriously, they better cut the misandrist bullshit, they are not helping their own cause at all.

Besides, I thought women were just as strong and capable as men? Isn't that what feminism was all about? Why do they suddenly need "safe spaces" to protect them from "toxic masculinity"?

Equality is not their goal, it's radical feminism .

Oh please, you don't have the comprehension to discern radical feminism from your left nut, let alone discerning it from the other branches of feminism. Toxic is used as an adjective here to denote the parts n'parcels of performative gender roles that harm the individual and those surrounding them, it isn't used to describe all the ways masculinity is performed.

So it's crap to give men 'safe space' to talk about and work through how masculinity has affected 'em. Gotcha, I'll be sure to point this out the next time a man here whines that no one is catering to 'em. Not incidentally, giving men spaces to work through their issues isn't what got the orange cheeto'd rat bastard elected.

Maybe some of you should read the article before commenting. If the point was well taken you wouldn't've posted dribble that contradicts both the point Rareboy made and the article's information.

I wouldn't characterize it as an assault on anyone....

As Rareboy said..it is a University Program and it seems more like an exploration and for anyone who is interested maybe a glimpse into the power structures and the roles and the possible resulting behavioral influences that they have had on men....

...asking questions like this is important in the spectrum...actual change happens one person at a time....

I don't think feminism is an assault on men. Citing the fringe elements of any group as representative of the whole is counterproductive as you give their voice a platform it might not have otherwise had....

Read the article. Plenty of sweeping statements made. Seem to use masculinity as a negative trait.

Sounds like a mass pussy whipping by early stage feminists.

The sweeping statements that it's against manhood and masculinity as a whole were made by the author of the article and not the people who created the spaces and classes, let alone the opinions of anyone who has gone to them. I'd say he's a rather bad journalist as the 'leading headlines' were so ham-fisted that they also failed to describe either the intent or the actualization of the courses. All the actual info was at the bottom and none of it came from his assumptions in the headlines. Particularly seeing how he's never been. Doesn't take any balls whatsoever for an author to wax poetic about imaginary bias on something they've never gone to.

I can't tell from the link what these really consist of. If it's just an effort to weed out the machismo that leads to fights, abuse, etc., great -- real men control themselves anyway. But without knowing, who can say?

They could probably use a book I just finished as course material. Called Unbound, it explores the relationship between humans and technology, and along the way -- especially in the first half -- shows how the status of women has changed drastically with changes in technology. It turns out that sort-of-extreme feminism is espousing values that humans held long before women became locked to men in an economic and gene-driven de facto bondage, a tradition that is dying out because it no longer serves a societal function amid today's technology.

I read the link. I don't see the issue. Seems like a good idea to me. I agree with the posters quoted.

Yeah, for the snowflakes. Waah! A big, smelly man!

This attack is similar to the anti-white movements colleges given courses in "white privilege" "micro-agression" and the larger problem of institutionalized racism. Minorities to the maximum extent possible. All are part of the movement toward totalitarianism in which every thought, word and deed is governed by the state.
You are a dangerous fool !

Of course you'd try to derail this thread too.

Do you see a dialogue as an "attack"?
