I am frequently asked what kind of things go on in the local news in New Mexico. My answer is always the same "stupidity." Here is an investigative news story about a useless rural police department whose chief and officers who are not even legal to be police as they have criminal records. Vaughn's police dept run by criminals

New Mexico is a poor state with a failed education system. Government is a joke. The last two State Treasurers are still in jail. Until the people of this corrupt, backward state stand up and demand good government,the circus is going to continue. New Mexico is a national disgrace.

Sorry to read this. My point of view is definitely one of an outsider. I love the natural beauty and the Native American culture. When I think of culture, I think of the Santa Fe Music Festival. When I think of politicians, I think of the Udalls. Also, I've really enjoyed the local food. The light around Santa Fe is unique in all the world, making it an ideal spot for an art colony.

Since you live in New Mexico, for your sake, I hope things will improve.

Meh... this kind of corruption can happen anywhere. We've had a corruption issue here in California too though of different nature. The Police Chief in Bell was one of many officials ripping off the people.

English speaking countries have not tolerated this kind of corruption.

I take it you don't consider NYC as part of an English speaking country, where Boss Tweed/Tammany Hall had been notorious. The "Land of Lincoln" AKA Barack Hussein Obama's home state, just put away its governor, Rod Blagojevich for blatant corruption. However, if I visit the West side of Chicago, I'll swear that area is not English speaking: As in, "da Bears" - where using the double-negative has been transformed into an art form. By the way, there's no corruption in Chicago unless you get caught.

Perhaps you missed it in the article, or maybe it is because I saw this on television. This has nothing to do with Native Americans or Whites. But if I tell you what race the perpetrators are someone will start screaming 'racist.' They always do, because there are no real arguments to defend such people as the chief of his deputy.

Sad as it is, we have corruption everywhere. However, I think career politicians in major cities are smart enough to control a story when it hits the media. Remember how clean the whole state of Illinois was when Governor Rod Blagojevich tried to sell Obama's Senate seat? He was made out to be the "one bad apple." These bumpkin politicians in New Mexico are not that smart, and I add to that list former Governor Bill Richardson who is up to his neck in corruption problems here as well.

Despite being an Arizonan, my family has homes in New Mexico and I lived there when I was younger. Arizona has New Mexico beat in terms of being a fucked up state. We have certain groups like border vigilantes, stormfront members, and mormons stinking up the place.

Can't say I think much of that Sheriff Joe Arpaio of yours either. I will give your state credit for writing and fighting SB1070. I like Obama, but have heard enough of his UNINFORMED views on illegal immigration.

I have come to think there is no Democratic Party in New Mexico. There is the Republican Party, and the Mexican Party. The Mexican Party gave 90,000 illegals driver's licenses. Every third world piece of trash around the world is buying them. I understand your state will not except our driver's license as valid identification. Smart move. Governor Susanna Martinez promised to undo Bill Richardson's driver's license fiasco, but has failed to do so. Illegals are openly protesting at the state capitol in Santa Fe!

A lot of corners were cut. The border between New Mexico and Mexico is a joke. It does not exist. Mexico has a lot of influence on the way New Mexico is run. Call in a complaint on an illegal in New Mexico, and government does nothing. New Mexico is the superhighway to the United States for illegals, and Obama is not getting the job done. Worse he is standing up for illegals over U. S. citizens! He recently offered 800,000 illegals a pathway to citizenship if they finished school. WTF are illegals doing going to taxpayer funded colleges anyway?

In 2008 I threw fundraisers in my home for Obama. This time I will probably vote the party. If Romney wins I am not going to cry. Obama forgot his oath of office, and the promises he made to the base of the Democratic Party. I am a DNC member for Christ sake, look what the man has done to me! Obama didn't forget anything. As far as the promises, he fulfilled quite a few of them. Romney is nothing more then a fumbling clown who needs to stay far away from the white house. Obama granted an ability for those who came here when they were young a chance to succeed. There is nothing uninformed about his views on immigration. He is absolutely right.

Look, this is not a thread about illegal Mexicans, this is a thread about the stupid state of New Mexico that allows a convicted felon to become a police chief.

When I hear arguments such as yours they boil down to "keep the tax dollars flowing to illegals." I am not here to argue that. If that is your interest OP a thread of your own, don't hijack mine.

Your effort to equate corruption in English speaking countries over others is laughable. However, I will credit American politicians to be smarter than the Chief of Police in the link. The education system in New Mexico is #50 of the 50 states, that should tell you something.

You post a lot of words, but I see no links to verify corruption in English speaking countries or statistics on which POTUS have deported the most illegals. All I see is your talk unsupported by facts.

My effort? I backed it up with a link from a well recognized, and well respected study that does rankings.

I post a lot of words? I've posted a f-cking link from Transparency International, and they are well respected and well liked for being balanced. But you didn't read the post... because your argument is ridiculous.

You are the one who chimed in with propaganda and a grand defense of illegal aliens that was basically uncalled for considering the topic of this thread.
