The Logo Network

I was really excited when I learned there was a gay network, but then got really disappointed when I found all they ran was reruns of Queer as Folk, and lately, Buffy. At one point I was really excited that they were started some (some meaning perhaps a show a year) of their own original programming, but I was even more disappointed to realize it all sucks (i.e. RuPaul and Big Gay Sketch Show). Plus, pretty much all the gay indie movies they show are awful as well. Too bad.

I like some of the indie gay movies. But, they hack them up and place commerical breaks in strange places. You can rent most of those movie from Netflix uncut.

If the cut version don't bother you, can watch a lot them for free on their website.

It's bundled with Showtime on my cable and I just can't see paying $14 a month to be able to watch the stuff they're running.

I don't get LOGO, basic cable doesn't carry it in my city... though I have watched RuPaul's Drag Race online.

The whole problem with a "gay channel" is that we, as a group, don't watch a lot of TV to begin with and certainly not the same shows; and there aren't enough of us to make the demographic profitable enough to bring in sufficient advertising revenue to ensure really good original and/or syndicated programming. It's a noble idea, but it isn't really workable... I thought so when I first heard of LOGO and Here! being launched.

Whenever a station goes into these all-one-show cycles, it's either close to the end of its existence or is waiting for something new to happen. Like for a while there, SciFi turned into the "All Stargate All the Time" station; then it started putting out some good original programming. Unfortunately, the original programming didn't do all that well in the ratings and it turned itself into SyFy and plays really bad "fantasy" and "creature" movies all the time... but it was good while it lasted.

Anyway, time will tell with LOGO. I don't expect it to last, though. Things made strictly for a gay audience that can't charge more for being gay (like porn or magazines, anything sold individually) seldom last long or do well.

So true. I've always hated that show, too. The only person I know who watched it was my mother.

I was reall amped when I saw that there was a gay channel coming. When it first premiered, it was okay, but then it plunged.

The good shows came on at odd hours of the morning. Then, they took of the indie movies, Noah's Arc ended, and played Queer As Folk to death. Then Bad Girls was played to death. Now Buffy is being played to death.

LOGO's going the same route as G4 (who plays nothing but Cops, Attack of the Show, and X-Play). The idea was genuine and great, but the demographic like Swellegant said is just too small or unprofitable.

I agree ... LOGO was great in the begining ... loved the movies and some of the shows.
But now ... Get Buffy the hell off there.
I once had a female roomie that loved that show ... I hated it !! and hated her !!!
Ru Paul is comical ... and his queens are over the top.
LOGO ... please get back to some good queer entertainment.
