This brought tears to my eyes, as many here know, my first partner was killed in Afghanistan. Fate has a habit of really catching you off guard. My partner now is also in The Army, he was Erik's best mate and saw him being ripped apart.
I too am ex-RAF, the "Brotherhood" runs deep in my heart.

Often, we forget the character of someone who is willing to sacrifice their own life to protect others, complete strangers no less.
I myself am guilty of this.

Today is a day to remember what our service members do in keeping us relatively safe and comfortable with the FREEDOM to exercise our free will and choice within acceptable reason.

This goes for everyone all over the world, take some time to remember those who fight to protect you from tyranny and oppression.

Several nations of the world hold an annual Armed Forces Day in honor of their military forces.... In the United States, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It falls near the end of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May and ends on the third Sunday of May.
