The Magnificent Splendour Never Dies.

Ah, the Bluenose. The celebrated fishing vessel which substituted as a world-class racing schooner on her days off.

Built in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the Bluenose was a working vessel until it wrecked in 1946.

In commemoration, an exact replica of the Bluenose was built in 1063 in the original Lunenburg shipyard with many of the original craftsmen volunteering their time and efforts to work once again on one of the fastest ships riding the ocean waves. It was named Bluenose II.

The image of the original Bluenose (in various engravings and designs over the decades) has appeared on the reverse side of our dime (10¢ coin) since 1937.

The Canadian 50 cent Bluenose stamp is considered one of the most popular and most beautiful of all the definitive stamps the Canadian Post Office has ever issued. It's value reflects that. . .with prices ranging from around $ 400 up; and, depending on condition: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluenose_(postage_stamp)

This animation shows the fluttering aurorae that light up both of Saturn’s poles. Created by the interaction of the solar wind with the planet’s magnetic field, Saturn’s aurorae are analogous to the more familiar northern and southern light on Earth.
