Matisse even designed a set of vestments for the chapel's priests, but those are for another post.

The Mackinac Bridge, Michigan USA was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened on November 1, 1957, at 8 km in length, it rises 168 m above the water surface at its highest point.

Wow. Especially the hair.

I have the feeling I should recognize this sculpture, but I can't place it. The stone must be Carrara marble though, right?
And the interlocking fingers are a work of art on their own. Everyone knows how hard hands are to draw, can you just imagine chipping them out of stone?

Do you have any idea how a sculptor like that back then could get the surface of the marble so smooth? Was there something like sandpaper in those days?

I noticed the hands first and didn't even see the hair until it was mentioned.

The hair was impressive enough but the fingers were amazing.
