^^I can't really tell; but, I think those are laminated wood treads/landing. Laminated wood, properly anchored, is a very acceptable structural element.

Permanently? No. Too isolated.

But I'd gladly stay there for a week or two. Especially if there were a hot guy or two on those chaises longues and good Mexican food.

Well, many stairs have no risers. And, since it appears to be a residential stair; and, probably not one of the building code required access stairs, it is not required to have handrails. IMO, that is a big issue, but many clients prefer no handrails on "grand stair cases"

I love everything from the neck down and the face, but I just can't endorse the way this sculptor did the hair. Looks way too much like Medusa's snakes.
