Has anyone else noticed the commercials on tv advertising the Military? What the hell is going on i thought Obama wanted to STOP sending people to the middle east?

Lol I don't get it either. But....

I think mr. prez wants more troops in afghan so more advertising is just another thing the gov. is doing along with supposedly moving troops out of Iraq (someday).

He also ran on building up the military so if we ever have to do this sort of thing and its legit, not shady, there won't be such a strain.

We shouldn't have to take National Guard troops overseas except in serious emergencies, so this is a good thing.

Obama needs a larger military. He wants to invade Iran.

Obama ... wants to invade Iran.

Even more than his predecessor ?

I challenge you to substantiate your remark.

Re: The Military is being heavily advertised on tv

Um... huh?

Where'd you pull that one from? People are complaining he's being all nicey-nice with Iran, and you say he wants to invade???

I have been told numerous times that Obama cant do everything in his first week in office. The drones are still attacking in Pakistan. The war continues in Afganistan and Iraq.

I must assume Bush war plan to invade Iran is still active.

Reading things before you post them would help:

"They believe that their mission is to make sure that before they get out of office next year, either Iran is attacked or it stops its weapons program," Hersh said.

That's from the article in the post you linked to.

So tell me: why would a plan meant to activate before Bush left office still be live?

As I have been told many times here at JUB, Obama doesnt have time to do everything.

Do you believe that he ordered the planned invasion stopped?

He didnt have time to stop all the drone attacked in Pakistan.

What planned invasion?

The military has "plans" for everything from invading Iran to defending Taiwan to aiding Russia against China to seizing control of South Africa. It's one of the things the military does -- they make plans for every contingency, and then some.

To say that there are plans for invading Iraq is not the same as saying it was planned. The latter phrase implies intent to act, and orders set in motion. There's no indication that there were ever orders set in motion, so there was no "planned invasion" in that sense of the term -- so there was nothing to "stop".

As for the drone attacks in Pakistan, the first few may have been done on existing orders -- but the continuing drone attacks are ones he approved.

Remember how he ordered all new regulations in process stopped in place for review? That doesn't just happen with domestic stuff, it happens on the military side as well: unless an operation is already begun and ongoing, everything is up in the air for review. So even if Bush had told people to get things moving, to prepare for launching an Iraq invasion, that got stopped. Perhaps supplies were stockpiled, perhaps orders were written for call-ups, but those can be stopped without harm to anything or increasing the risk to the folks in uniform -- and everything with that status gets stopped almost automatically. It's done to regulating agencies, and it's done to the CIA and the military as well.

I can give one good reason that guarantees that there won't be an invasion of Iran now: no one will lend the necessary funds to the U.S. of A. The world is now as parliament to the U.S. "crown"; the only cash out there to finance a war is in foreign hands, and it isn't going to come here so we can make our financial situation even worse. There's already a fear that lenders around the globe are going to start turning down loan applications from Uncle Sam; if it were plain that the money was meant to be wasted on another war, it wouldn't be there.

Why? Because they need us to succeed. Loaning us cash for the bailout, for the stimulus, however badly and ineffectively those were written, is an investment in hope that we can get our act together, and lift the world back as we do. But loaning us money to be thrown away on war won't help us succeed at all, so it won't be coming.

Those ad's have been on TV for years. Spike plays them all the time(Really hate how the military is often considered "manly")

It isn't gonna change because the military does need recruits, otherwise they wouldn't have the ads or the recruitment pushes.

The military is manly.

It's just not the only thing that is.

The military is manly.

It's just not the only thing that is.
