I was gonna say 'daily grind', but the word 'torture' seemed more appropriate.

It's the working hours and a evil (can I say that?) supervisor that are the main problems, then. I'd recommend going to the head honcho first, just to see if something can be worked out. If not, you know what to do.

The stresses of the job, then? If you decide to leave, don't pour a bucket of water over her. Scrap that plan. Just get her something to help her cope with the stress of the job. It seems like the right thing to do. At least I think so.
