  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

The most ignorant and immature online community: Youtube?

Xbox live is definitely the most offensive place you could be. The n word is used all the time. I've heard a 12 yr old British kid say it again and again.

I've heard guys joking about incestuous anal sex with a guy's sister , or mom, to which I've replied " my mom is 80 yrs old but whatever floats your boat"

And of course , these guys are always talking about gay stuff in a joking way. Frankly I thought I would have to listen to talk about pussy but it rarely happens

Never been to that site but sounds like a group of young men/boys talking among themselves.

this is their ways of gaining their hard won social masculinity, because the natural one they have already screwed it up.

I look at it like this -

It's like watching an episode of Jerry Springer. It's not that I think his show is all that great, but after watching the guests he has on there, MY life seemed pretty Drama Free, SANE, 'normal', and I felt pretty intelligent.

It's a great pick-me-up when you're feeling down. Things could be worse... you could be THEM.

The anonymity of the internet means that people feel they can behave in any way they want without repercussions. So they will taunt, mock, insult, belittle, etc, etc to their hearts content.

Children still have a small sense of fear of being caught or berated for their behaviour, whereas older posters couldn't give a toss.

I can't stand youtube....I actually prefer when the comments are disabled. I get so sick and tired of comments like "x" amount of people are this (something related to the video) because they "disliked" the video. With those stupid comments being the highest rated. Those videos where idiots post their pets eating another animal alive are crazy....1000+ comments arguing back and forth with racist swear words thrown back and forth about who's in the wrong. I remember there was this one video where this guy taped his monitor lizard swallowing baby rabbits whole. I almost threw up cause you could still hear the rabbits yelping as they went down the lizard's throat. Man that video must have had like 20k comments.

On some of the vids I post, I just disable comments from the start. Believe me it's better this way... /facepalm :##:
This is something that bothers me. Youtube invites us all to participate and use their service. But if you are a minority, you have to disable comments right away, otherwise you'll get harassed. Well, you get harassed through parody videos anyway if you show your face as a minority. If you are a sociopath like RWJ, you get all the praise through the comments and Youtube's protection.

Many are doing it for the lulz.
Oh, internet culture. That LULZ behaviour comes from straight, healthy, wealthy, white sociopaths who don't have to fear much hate and backfire. It's easier to handle mockery if you're part of the majority and winners in life.

I almost never read the comments at youtube.
This is what many people should do though (helps against ignorance), and if they have a Youtube/Google account, thumb down comments and report videos.

Before highest rated comments, or thumbs up ratings, video discussion was actually readable. Sure there were a few bad people, but it wasn't so much an obsession to be "first" and get the highest thunbs up.

I'd like to see them bring back the 5 star rating system so I don't have to here "X people need to die.."

How do you know this if they are anonymous postings? The idea of straight, healthy, wealthy, and white people has come from you. Do you have bitterness harbored against these categories of people?

Exactly!
That's why white people aren't so sensitive to racism, and why straight people aren't so sensitive to straight jokes (not that there are many) nor can some of them empathize with gay sensitivities.

I really think you guys have it all wrong. Why do you think people spend so much of their time writing hateful comments on the internet? Sure, maybe some do it just for fun and they really are white or wealthy or whatever stereotype you want to use but I think many have been severely screwed up. I think they are kids, teens, adults who's dad left them when they were a kid, were sexually, emotionally, physically abused, family died tragically, bullied as a kid, never had any role models, are trying to survive with serious health issues, were never encouraged in life or truly loved, etc. and so now they just hate the world in general. The world has turned its back on them so they do the same in return. They are doing everything they can to get that laugh, to release those endorphins in the brain and ease the turmoil. I really don't think it's focused on any one person so no single person should find it personally offensive if they care to look past the surface and see the bigger picture here. You're asking them to empathize with you and see what it's like to be gay while you turn a blind eye to see what it's like to be them.

So, if you can see it like it is and not take it personally you can also share the frustration and learn to laugh with them. I'm not justifying their comments or saying they don't deserve to be punished; just try to see it from a different angle and find true "why."

There is also another scenario. Sometimes it's kind of like this:

The two characters jumping on the bed, spewing obscenities at each other, are playing and not meaning any harm. And when you see something like this,

all you can do is laugh. Maybe you can't always change the way some people spread acts of hate (and we certainly shouldn't stop trying), but you can change yourself and not let it disrupt your life.

In the second clip, i still think that "pastor" secretly eating poo poo in his private life.

The most ignorant and immature online community is the Call of Duty community on Xbox live.

Any gamer would affirm this as fact.

Here's a video to flag for showing nudity and sexual innuendos:

Not bitterness, but in disgust of their arrogant, elitist ignorance. And you totally sound as snotty as them. Do you think a disabled non-white guy on welfare can easily laugh about his situation and throw some more oil into the fire? A victim that is really in a helpless situation takes life more serious and will hardly joke about it.

Maybe you know shit about life and need something really bad to happen to you to start activating your brain.
