That's because you didn't watch the movie with me...we would've cuddled and warm each other during this cold, cold winter night. That's why you're confused. :(
 
It was like...

3 DIFFERENT movies -- from different countries -- didn't have enough money to complete themselves...

So someone bought them for DIRT CHEAP -- added English subtext -- cut them up -- mixed them up -- and spliced them all back together...

OR...

Maybe they were trying to make a movie into a SOCIAL statement of some sort???

You need to watch a few Lynch movies for practice.

No really, Babel was quite a good film. Not a cheap at all, I guess you just don't have experience with films like that? Watch something else than hollywood popcorn cinema from time to time :) There are a few film like that - and the connection between the different stories in Babel is kinda obvious, isn't it?
 
I didn't mean to imply that it was cheaply done (even though my previous post sounds like that)...

I just didn't get it...

All 3 stories were interesting enough to KINDA follow -- but...

What was the point???

And no -- I don't see the connection between the 3...

I'm not trying to be CRITICAL -- because the LAST thing anyone should read into my post is CREDIBILITY :lol: -- its just FOR ME -- I don't get it...

Now that I'm on NETFLIX -- I'll look into some of those Lynch movies!!!

Don't feel bad. I gave up after an hour. I was totally confused and when I started to get pissed that it made no sense, I just quit.

There are a lot of themes in the movie that deal with the inability to comunicate with one another. The most obvious representation is the deaf japanese girl. Another example is the married couple in north Africa that can't talk to each other. The name of the film comes from the Tower of Babel, which, if I remember well, is a biblical story that tells of how the different languages were created. Somehow the people in the city of Babel built a tower which was to be so tall that it would touch Heaven. God punished the people there for their pride and had everybody speak a different language, so everybody left the city.

I've seen the movie once and I think that's enough for me.

I kinda like how they tried to link all the stories at the end but when it was over I was like ok.....

Same guy who did 21 Grams which just made me want to kill myself after watching that.

Good to see an original movie idea though, since it's a little rare nowadays...

That's Inarritu's style for you. His bets work doing that would be in Amores Perros. Babel's tolerable. I had to write an essay about that movie. It was due the morning after I started watching.
