The Prom (2 of 2)
I realized how late it was getting so I decided to go ahead and get into the shower. While I was getting in, all I could think about was Grant. How he was just so perfect. I wanted him to be mine, and for me to be his. I wanted to plan my life around him and no one else. From that moment on, I realized that there was no turning back. I was gay, and tonight I was going to make my move. When I got out of the shower it was 4:45, with all my thinking going on I hadn’t realized the time. So I dried off, and headed for my dresser to get some underclothes to put on. While I was doing this, my phone rang. It was Thi.
“Hello” I said
“Hey Baby” Thi said “I’ll be there with everyone in at around 5:30. Then we can take pictures, and go out to eat.”
“Sounds like a plan to me.” I said
“Yea, so how are you doing babe?” She asked “Are you still having those jealous fits when you see people talking to Grant? Because you know its going to get worst tonight, when every female at prom is going to want to dance with him.” I hadn’t really thought about that.
“I think I’ll be ok.” I said softly “I mean it’s only dancing, and he doesn’t even know I feel this way about him.”
“Yet!” Thi exclaimed
“Thi don’t tell him.” I said “I want to do it in my time.”
“You know I wont babe.” she said “But alright let me finish getting dressed, I’ll see you in a few.”
“Bye” I said
Thi made a really good point about prom tonight. How would I react when I saw people dancing on Grant. I really didn’t know the answer myself, so I tried not to think about it while I got dressed. After I finished getting dressed, I looked in the mirror at the new person I was. Not to sound conceited, but I looked damn good. Thi really knew how to coordinate, because the white and pink really set off my tannish-white skin color. But I really was looking past my physical looks. I was looking at the new person inside of me. In less than a week, I came to the realization that I was gay, and in love. It sounds impossible on paper, but when you actually experience, you’ll know where I’m coming from.
After I finished looking in the mirror, I went to pack a change of clothes for tomorrow and I grabbed my cell phone and headed downstairs. As soon as I stepped on the first floor, my mother was waiting with her camera.
“Oh my baby is finally going to his senior prom!” she exclaimed as tears rolled down her face “He looks so handsome.” She took several pictures. The door bell rang and I went to answer it. It was Grant, and he looked so sexy. We were wearing the exact same tux, but it just looked so much better on Grant. He looked like he should have been on the cover of GQ.
“Oh my, both of my boys look so handsome.” my mother said as she took even more pictures. My sisters came down to see what was going on.
“Damn baby, can I have a slice of that cake!” Monica said
“Make it two” Angela said as she walked toward Grant and I
“Girls don’t they look so handsome.” my mother said
“Mom no one says handsome anymore, but they do look HOT.” Angela said as the doorbell rang. I answered, and it was Thi.
“Now all my children are here.” my mother said as she took pictures of all three of us.
“Mom, we have reservations for Carrabas, so we have to get going” Thi said “We promise that we’ll let you take more pictures tomorrow when we come back.”
“Speaking of that, let me go get the condominium key” she said as she hurried off to her purse
“You both look so sexy.” Thi said to Grant and I
“And you look beautiful” Grant said while I agreed
Soon my mother was back with the key, and we gave our kisses, goodbyes. When we walked outside Thi had a car full in her Hummer. I was glad that they didn’t come in, because then my mother would of wanted more pictures. Thi got into her Hummer, while Grant and I got into my 350. We were going to go Carrabas for dinner, then to prom, then to the after parties after prom. We didn’t listen to music on the way to Carrabas, Grant and I just talked about what we were going to do after High School. As it turns out, Grant was accepted to basically every college he applied for. Including my college NYU. He hadn’t decided which one he was going to attend yet though. I wanted to tell him my feelings while we were riding, but I decided not to. Grant already had enough on his mind, then to worry about this. Soon we were at Carrabas. It was packed, but since we made reservations, we got in with no problem. And it also helped that Cindy’s dad was the proprietor of the whole establishment. She drove separately from Thi, so that she could leave prom early to head for the beach to make sure everything was cool at her parents condo. The food was delicious, but I didn’t really eat that much. I was too busy watching all of Thi’s girlfriends flirt with Grant. They flirted with me too, but especially with Grant. Cindy was the main perpetrator. She even went as far as asking Grant if he was good in bed. Which Grant answered with no words, but with a blush. I wanted to tell her to lay off, but Thi who could tell when I was getting mad told her to lay off for me. I love that girl.
After dinner, it was 6:45. Since Prom was on the other side of town and started at 7:00, we had just enough time to make a fashionably late entrance. Again when Grant and I got into the car, we didn’t listen to music, but Thi sure did. The bass from her Hummer was basically rattling the streets and the cars.
“That was really weird” Grant said
“What was weird” I asked
“The way all those girls were coming at me.” he said
“I hate to tell you this, but it’s going to get worst when we get to prom.” I said. Grant didn’t look to good after I said that. But when we pulled into the parking lot, his expression changed. We waited for Thi and the rest of the girls to get out of the Hummer. Then we headed into the building. The way they decorated the school was absolutely beautiful. It didn’t even look like the commons area anymore. It looked like a paradise.
The music was pumping, and everyone looked so good. The DJ was playing “Shake That Monkey” by Too Short. As soon as we stepped on the dance floor someone pulled Grant away from Thi and I. Thi looked to me and said “Get used to it babe, its going to be a long night.” I believe her too, and it was.
While that song was playing, two girls were dancing on Grant. One at the front and one at the back. The one at the front “dropping it like it was hot” while the other was had her back turned to Grant was moving slowly down his back, and bringing it back up again. Grant looked uncomfortable, but he was trying to dance. This made me mad, what a surprise! Thi sensed this and started dancing with me, to take my mind off Grant.. Boy could Thi dance. She was popping it, dropping it, whatever you could think of, she was doing it. After about 20 more songs, Thi and I managed to get Grant away to ask him how he was liking prom.
“So how do you like it boo?” Thi asked “How many times have you been raped?”
“Its cool” Grant said “And to answer your second question, just about every time a new song started.” he said as we all laughed. It was 9:30, everyone was leaving prom at 10:00 to go to the beach. We danced to a couple of more songs. The last song we danced too, was a slow one by K-Ci and JoJo called “All My Life”.
We managed to get Grant away from his fan club again, and all three of us danced to this song. It was truly a romantic moment, even if Thi was in between Grant and I. It was magical. Soon everyone started to head out after the song was over. It was a 45 minute drive to Myrtle beach. So we had to go ahead and leave too. Thi rounded up all the people that were going with her, and we all head to our cars. On the way there, Grant was talking about all the girls who were dancing with him.
“Yeah, but out of all the girls that danced with me tonight” Cindy was the freakiest.” he said “I thought she was about to whip out my cock and everything on the dance floor.” This made me angry but I tried not to show it. To change the subject and plugged up my iPod, and handed it Grant to choose a song. He chose a song by “I can tell” by the 504 boys. Yet again a good choice, but a bad one at the same time.
‘You ain't gotta say too much
From the look in your eyes
I can tell you want to fuck
And you ain't gotta call me ya boo
Just as bad as you wanna fuck
I wanna fuck too
No, No, No you ain't gotta say to much
From the look in your eyes
I can tell you wanna fuck
And you ain't gotta call me ya boo
Just as bad as you wanna fuck
I wanna fuck too…’
As you can tell from the lyrics, why this song was also a bad song. It was weird though, how every time we got into the car together, how either Grant or myself would pick a song that would turn me on. It was crazy. We went through many more songs after that, but mostly rock songs. So I didn’t have to worry to much about my third leg trying to walk. Soon we were at the beach. We passed my parent’s condominium on the way down the strip toward Cindy’s condominium. Grant was in awe at the sight of the beach. It was probably his first time ever being to one from the expression on his face. When we got there, the whole place was packed. Cindy must of invited everyone at school. There were people dancing, drinking, smoking, swimming, anything you could think of, people were doing it. Cindy rushed toward Thi, Grant, and I and pulled us in. She was giving us a tour of the condo. It was really nice actually, even though people were everywhere. After her little tour, Cindy told us to go have some fun. And ask her if we needed anything. Before Grant could walk off, Cindy pulled him aside and started talking to him. I wanted to pull him away, but Thi told me not to.
Thi went to go talk to some people, while I walked out to the back door and on to the beach. The moon was full, so the beach was completely lit up. It was beautiful. I walked up and down the beach for about 30 minutes until I received a text message from Grant. It said “Where are you? I’m going to be waiting in the car. Please hurry” So I headed back toward the condo to go find Grant. When I got there, I didn’t even think about finding Thi, I just wanted to find Grant to see what was wrong. When I got to my car, Grant was sitting on the trunk of the car, with tears rolling down his cheeks. I walked up to him, and asked what was wrong He said “Nothing, but could we go now.” I said “Sure” and we both got in. On the way to my parents condo, no words were exchanged. The only sound came from the ocean rolling up on the beach. It was tense, but beautiful at the same time. Finally we got to the condo. We got out with our change of clothes and headed toward the front door, while I rustled in my pockets for the keys. Our condo was a little bit bigger than, Cindy’s. It was nice, my parents spared no expense on it. But besides that, I was still wandering what was wrong with Grant. We decided to walk on the beach. While there I was determined to find out what had occurred back at Cindy’s.
