New TV series with gay themes coming - "The New Normal" & "Partners"

So apparently, gay is the new black (quoted from Yahoo!TV) :lol:

The New Normal


'The New Normal' is about a single mother (Georgia King) who ran away with her daughter after spotting her husband cheating on her and agreed to be a surrogate mother for a gay couple (Jayson Blair and Justin Bartha). However, things might not go smooth when her mother (Ellen Barkin) found out. Also starring NeNe Leakes as one of the couple's friend.

Perhaps the downside of the series is that the creator is Ryan Murphy, which means that the quality might be unstable from episode to episode, and might even be exaggerated. Nevertheless, the premise is attractive and it's kinda intriguing to see NeNe Leakes in a sharp-mouthed role :p (not to make Justin Bartha is so goddamn cute :mrgreen:).



Partners


About two men who are best friends, roommates, and also colleagues; one is gay (Michael Urie) and the other's straight (David Krumholtz). Sophia Bush and Brandon Routh also stars. From the creator of Will and Grace and is said to also be adapted from the creators' own experiences.

Almost flawless, although I hope the running gag remains funny throughout the season, likewise Will and Grace. Besides, what is not to love from Sophie Bush? :D

So what do you guys think?

Neither show looks like something I'd actually want to watch.

But it's nice to see more gay roles in television, even if it's mindless sitcoms.

Even bad exposure is good exposure.

The Partners sound very interesting to watch, and the New Normal, I am on fence about it, but we see how it premier in coming season

I am intrigued by both shows.

New Normal... I liked the line 'A family is a family. Love is love.'

Partners...the promo didn't do much for me, but I do like David Krumholtz and as Will & Grace is one of my favourite series, I will give it a go.

it's a new nbc primetime comedy series, with a gay couple as the main characters, who are looking at adopting.


anyways, i didn't see anything about it and i'm looking forward to it. i usually hate sit-coms as i find them tacky, (except for roseanne) but i think im going to give this one a chance.


it premiers tuesday, sept. 11th.

you can watch the first episode on nbc right now, after watching it im not sure, gonna have to give it a few tries.

I watched the pilot for 'The New Normal'.....it doesn't look good. I don't think it will last. I don't see a chemistry between the two leads and besides we already have a gay parents duo on TV (Modern Family). The two guys from this new show can't hold a candle, so far but I'm willing to give them 2-3 more episodes to impress me with something new. I think the producers are just hoping that people will show interest when two good looking men are on screen and gay.

The CBS show will last one season. The other one will be cancelled after the pilot.

Watched "The New Normal" pilot yesterday...wasn't impressed. I honestly didn't laugh once...it is supposed to be a comedy right?

I had DVR'd The New Normal and started to watch it yesterday and couldn't even get to the first commercial break, was rather nasty and insulting,i stopped watching and took it off my DVR que

Hard to believe that crap is from the makers of Will & Grace :?

Who is the actor who plays the serious one? I think he is a doctor on the show.
 
He played Nicolas Cages side kick in the National Treasure movies and also a teacher on a very short lived NBC sitcom several years ago.

I think the show was ok. At least its a different concept from other shows out there.
