** The Offical 2008 MLB Thead!!! **

So I guess it would be ok to take a break and post some fun stuff.
Most teams had their rookie hazing yesterday, I posted a bit about the Mets in my Mets thread. I haven't found many pictures yet but I did find the Boston Red Sox. I hope Brad comes back from his inactive states cause I mainly posted these for him.

With all the negative talk about the Yankees this season, I thought we should bring attention to a couple of the greats of the game.
Derek Jeter has tied Lou Gehrig's Yankee Stadium record.
Jeter now has 1,269 hits, tied with Gehrig :=D:
Mariano Rivera had his 35th save in 36 opportunities. He also moved into a tie with Lee Smith for second on the career list with 478 saves. ..|
The Yankees have eight games left at the Stadium this season before it closes for good. Andy Pettitte will start for the Yankees that day Sept. 21

I just felt the need to bring out some of the great stuff that has happened to the Yankees over the last few days.

Thanks sonny. For all the Yankees problems ths year, there have been a lot of great baseball memories made there, even now.

I'd like to acknowledge Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs for his no hiitter yesterday...I know even Abs would give his props for such a grreat achievement.

WTF is with the Brewers?Firing Eddie Yost today....as the club needs stability in its efforts to get back on track in the wild card chase, not distractions and more controversy. What does this say about the handle the Milwaukee front office has on running a solid organization when they panic and fire the guy who got them in contention for so long in the first place? Now Philly is rising and the Mets have to be quite worried.

I read Chipper Jones, who just bought two Shea Stadium chairs primarily as a memento for his son, named for Shea had a lifetime .313 average at Shea,19 homers and 55 RBI.No wonder he'll miss the place so much!;)Well,Larry.....you have always been a formidable and respectful adversary and we'll give you as much hell at CitiField until you retire!Aah,rivalries!:gogirl:

I think Brad would appreciate that, sonny and I miss him too. We're all baseball fans who really love and appreciate the game no matter what team we passionately follow most. Thanks to you sonny for your Mets thread and thanks to Abs for this nationally based one,it's fun posting, sharing and razzing with each other about our love of baseball(group)....playoffs in two weeks!:D

My bad for not mentioning that, thanks for adding that

That blew me away, what an insane move. What do they hope to accomplish, do they think their 3rd base coach will save them, please.
Worse, what will this due to the teams morale?

I love Chipper, the only Brave I ever have. How could you not love him, he is one of the greats.

What is up with that inactive statis, what does it mean, where is he?

Where is that kid? I miss seeing him around. He is our funny baseball loving mascot.:D

Sonny,Brad's still a member but for a sort period not a participating one.Inactive status is just that,Brad can't access the boards for awhile, his choice because his overall unhappinss the diirection JUB was taking. But he said he will be back and I know he will.

As for Abs,he's defiitely around, just probably real busy. With work and mod shit he has to deal with, even Cory needs to recharge his batteries!;)Though that baseball-loving funny mascot crack may get his attention real quick!:pI'm thinking the things he could do that would put Mr. Met to shame!:p

Um, I dunno why I just quoted all that, but oh well :D

Here I am! Thanks for thinkin' of me

And yeah, Sausy hit the nail on the head - this past week kicked my ass at work, and I've rarely had time to post in this thread (although I did watch ESPN every night in my hotel room, cursing the Phillies!)

The playoff season will soon be here. As long as the Cubs fail in every way possible, I will be a happy man! (and, as long as they don't clinch the NL Central versus the Cards this weekend...a 12-5 routing today doesn't hurt! Screw you Zambrano, you piece o' shit!)

So sorry it wasn't sooner than later, but I've been thinking of you guys (*8*)

And I promise - once the playoffs start - I'll be a posting whore, and as usual ranting and raving (and quite possibly drooling) at the players, umpires, etc., because I love it :luv:

Aww......we miss our Absy!(*8*)Well,at least you had the Eastern Sports Network to keep up with the pennant races!:pYep,Sunday night's game is the Yankee Stadium closing game ,another East Coast team!;)Wanna bet what next Sunday's game, last regular season telecast, will originate from?:p

Also been hating the Phillies rise back to the top,:grrr:and so much happier after our last night win over Atlanta that has the Mets back in first place in the NL East!:gogirl:

But Abs,don't mess too much with Scrub's Phillies....that's what me and sonny do so well!;)

And we're holding you to that promise of the reappearance of our fellow baseball slut Abs to whore up everything baseball playoffs with us when they begin!

Robert,it's the Cubs....

:##:

This be as far as they get.101 years and counting!:p

Lets go Nats :gogirl:
Washington 58-96

I love your sense of humor. Um, you are joking right???

I sure hope Abs is ok and has accepted this. I am sure people will see him walking around town all in black with a glazed look on his face.
Awww poor Cory, ya know we still love ya right? (*8*)

For Mets fans we jus hope this means the Cubs will rest some of their big guys with our series next week since they have little to gain by trying to beat us.

I mean don't get me wrong, I still think the Mets can beat em next week, while the Marlins are beatin up the Phillies. Then the Marlins come to New York
and OH boy won't that be fun.

News:
The Nationals' Owner own D.C. $3.5 million in rent.
They say that the ballpark is still not complete and D.C. owes them a $100,000 a day penalty totaling $10.5 million.

..|

Wow, I had not heard that, poor bastards.
Hey, they are in Washington, I guess being losers rubs off on you.
Sorry I did not mean to get political, I just could not help myself.;)
Back to baseball.

Gumby,it's got to be tough for a passionate fan like you,but you have a great sense of humor about it!(*8*)

We'd better thrash the Cubbies and reel in some Marlins because Abs won't be the only one walking around in black with a glazed facial expression...if the Mets keep breaking their fans hearts like this weekend's horror show against the Braves.:(
