Maybe I'm just slow, but can someone explain to me why Beyonce is disqualified, I didn't get it.

Not that I think she should win, but I am just curious of Oscar rules.

Basically, the Oscars have a rule that only 3 people can be awarded statuettes for Best Original Song. Beyonce is billed as the fourth writer (which is probably because she did little to nothing).

No, if you think about it, it makes sense. A director gets a nomination for directing a movie that's what? 2 hours long? ONE director.

How can you seriously hand out an Oscar to FOUR people for a song that's 3 minutes and 48 seconds. The rule says that only the PRINCIPAL contributors shall be awarded.

Only the principal composer(s) or songwriter(s) responsible for the conception and execution of the work as a whole shall be eligible for an award. This expressly excludes from eligibility all of the following:

a) supervisors

b) partial contributors (e.g., any writer not responsible for the overall design of the work)

c) contributors working on speculation

d) scores diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music

e) scores diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs

f) scores assembled from the music of more than one composer.

Beyonce HERSELF has said that the song was already written when she came on board. The damn thing was in the script. There's no way possible for her to be a principal contributor if she only tweaked what was already there.

right or wrong, superstar singers have learned from whitney's mistake and make sure their name is on ever song they sing. why? cause whitney never did and while she made millions, tens of millions, she missed out on the real money...publishing (combine that with all the crack smoking and the poor bitch has lost her mansion in new jersey). so you're all criticizing beyonce for something every single singer on her level does now to get residuals...

If Dreamgirls was supposed to be all about The Supremes, and how America disliked Diana Ross now, shouldn't Beyonce learn something and not be Diana? Look at that controversy regarding her being the Best Actress and Jennifer as Best Supporting Actress.

Holy crap! As much as I've had fun these past few weeks poking fun at Ms. Knowles, I WAS rooting for her to be nominated for Best Song at this year's Oscars and I really thought she had a good chance of actually winning one (for the song-not the acting). Wow I wonder what the Knowles Camp is thinking right now.....the fury of Matthew will be unleashed LOL.

BOOOO! I can't believe how much you all don't like Beyonce! I love her! Not so much her singing (she's not that bad), but she is so sweet. I meet her on the Cater 2 U video shoot with my cousin who is a model. She's so nice, not in a fake way either just nice!
