Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

I don't know. I'm just kind of neutral on Steven. I'm definitely not getting all bent out of shape just because he said "colored." Had he said black and not coloured would there be such a stink? Probably not. And I don't think he meant anything racist by it I just think he's ignorant enough not to realize that there is a difference between black and colored.

I could tell Ollie and April would wind up together when Ollie was feeling her up. DUMB.

As is I think maybe I like Angie the best. She seems chill. Libra and Steven have both disappointed me but it's early.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

I'd just like to say that Angie is GORGEOUS!

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

I watched about 90 mins on AD and after the walk gay or run gay conversation, I thought that Jerry was the idiot. "In my day the gays were slender, feminine acting." Hey in your day gays were just like there are today except in your day they had to stay in the closet.

As for as the 'colored' thing is concerned, it is a common usage in the deep South. Steven is a rodeo bull rider and if you ever heard the bigotry that comes out of some of those dim witted cowboys. He is a product of his environment. I have an uncle (part Seminole) who calls black people colored all the time. My aunt calls him on it by telling him they don't like to be called colored anymore, but he goes right on doing it. He is a policeman in Miami/Dade and workd with lots of blacks and Latinos and he says everybody he knows uses it.

I like Brian. He is an interesting guy. I think the blond Dani look-a-like and another woman are drunks. Talking about drinking and blcking out and not knowing what you did. Taking shots of everything in the bar in Canada.

Jesse is a boob but I love his tits and ass.

Renny reminds me of an old time movie star with those eyes ad hats and caps and wigs and the way she looks at everyone.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

Angie does seem to be the coolest HG right now, she's just so down to earth and funny at the same time.

Libra what is she a dictator or something, she's pissing too many people off this early with her nagging mannerisms.

Jessie facewise is so bleh it hurts, but that's usually how it goes. I never really dug the steroid look but if his shirt is true that's really impressive.

David being a Catholic school teacher, biggest turn on EVER. Memphis is also physically my type, he's just too slimey.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

Well It seems very INTERESTING that so many people are so forgiving of Steven's ignorance. "Oh he's from this background!" "Oh it's not his fault" Why make all these ridiculous excuses. He is WRONG. I can't believe people are defending him.

For one if someone was making ignorant comments about gay people no one would say out it's not his fault and all this crap about his background. Most of you would be outraged. When do we hold people accountable for things? If someone is raised in a homophobic environment it is ok for them to say bad things about gays by that logic.

His intention was RACIST. He said "that colored girl aint got no power in this house." He wasn't just making the point that she was bossy and controlling but highlighting the fact that this "woman of color" has no business even taking such a dominant stance over white people. He resents that this "black" girl is doing this to him. She is being a bit crazy about food and alcohol but she's not being aggressive and not telling people she's in charge. I think people's over-the-top reaction to her his kinda sexist and racist.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

He's still an idiot though, and I don't particularly like him. God, they never cast gay people I can stand on this show. The last one was Will in BB5, and just barely. I mean just look at this list:
Bunky
Marcellas
Beau
Ivette (the only lesbian)
Dustin
Joe
Joshua

UGH! Awful. All of them. Hmm, I guess if we count Hardy as gay (come on, it's so obvious) then he would be the best.

OMG I loved Will. I forget about him sometimes, I guess because he wasn't terrible.

First of all you're misquoting him. The quote was "That little colored girl has a controlling personality! She ain't controlling nothing with me." And she does controlling personality. The fact that she wasn't controlling him had nothing to do with her race or gender he just didn't want to be told what to do. Perhaps he did mention her race because of the mad black women concept Libra herself mentioned in her interviews.

That all being said. I think people who try to roll everyone who's every used a racist term, held a racist notion, or been influenced by a stereotype into one big ball and stamp "bad people" on them are just as naive and ignorant as the "racists" they're glad to look down on. I mean it's ridiculous. Trying to encapsulate anyone in one word is just dumb. People aren't just "racist" or not "racist" it's not that simple and it's never been that simple. And the same goes for views on gender, sexual preference, style of dress, hair color or anything else. It's not just one side or the other. He used a word that noted her race at a time when noting her race was immaterial to the actual meaning of the statement and he used an antiquated and offensive word to do it. To leap from that to label him a racist is a big leap. Like whoever it was (I don't remember) said that he was always looking at Libra funny because she's black was ridiculous. He's pissed because she's bossy. If he were pissed at her solely because of her race you'd expect him also to be having problems with Ollie, which he isn't.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

You're missing the point. Yes she is being bossy and annoying. Obviously he is upset about that. But he is even more bothered that this "little colored girl" is the one doing the bossing. Why even bring her race into it just because you have a conflict with someone? He knows her name. He didnt use it because it wasn't just about Libra being bossy it was about a colored girl having the audacity to challenge him. It's like if memphis were to say "that little queer thinks he is running shit." Why bring his sexuality into it? That is the point I'm making. Not sure if Steven is joining the clan and getting a white sheet. But his intent was racist.

And of course he has said nothing about Ollie. There's been no conflict. Ollie and Steven barely interact at all. Ollie has spent all his time massaging April's tits. I bet if he and Ollie had a big fight he'd say something racist but he prolly wouldnt even say it to his face.

I agree with Falconfan in that we are so ready to jump on everyone who says something that seems remotely racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. If he had used another word other than colored (I grew up with colored as the proper way to call black people), but I live in NYC now and know better but if you were from almost any other part of the South, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia etc you would hear the word colored used a lot. I don't for a minute believe Steven is not racist in some way, but until he proves otherwise, I hang by not getting my balls all bent in a twist.

I don't for one minute, either, think that most of us have some lingering ugliness that we try to hide. There is just so much you can shove in your gut and not get indigestion. I'm talking about trying to control your feelings on a subject. Now how many Americas called people from the middle east ugly names after 9/11/01? Just about everyone I know.

Enough of that, slam away.

You have made up your mind and mine is in a wait and see stance.

I have hope that one day this will be a little less common in the south.

Maybe in about 50 years or so, seriously.

But I'm not missing the point you're creating one were one doesn't exist. The other day me and my friend were driving and my friend got cut off and my friend commented "Dumb blond bitch cut me off." By your logic than my friend must've been especially angry that it was a blond woman who cut us off, my friend must hold suppressed feeling about the inferiority of blond women... only my friend is a blond woman. The English language requires a subject and a predicate to a sentence. The subject doesn't necessarily influence the sentiment of the predicate but it must exist. And I don't know about you but I hardly ever talk to or about someone by their actually name. I mean it's just human habit not to keep repeating a name every time you mention a person you use adjectives or pronouns. I mean for god's sake you're totally reading way to much into what is just the ignorance of knowing what words are and aren't PC.

Big Brother 10

Let this be the official BB10 thread...share your likes and dislikes and discuss the current goings-on of the house....And there are quite a few hotties this season!! :)

Are you serious? Blond isnt a race. The fact that he even brought her race into is telling. Blonds are not an oppressed people. He was saying it to be racist. Hello? If someone was talking shit about you and said "that queer aint controlling nothing" in that same tone, you wouldnt take that a little homophobic? Answer that honestly please and I'm droppin this.

But to get at your poor analogy. Yes you're friend was taking an unfair jab at blonds. There is a stereotype that blonds are dumb. That influenced his response. if the girl had brown hair he would just say that bitch or girl not that brown haired girl. he/she was more angry it was a blond but he was affected by the stereotype of blond by saying that.

No. I wouldn't.

Also who cares is blond isn't a race? Judging someone based on their physical appearance is judging someone based on their physical appearance. Period.

Re: Big Brother 10

everyone but Jerry (The old guy), Jesse (The Body Builder) and Ollie (the Religious dude) is FUCKIN HOT!!!! DAN IS THE HOTTEST!!! :)

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

Hey, take a good long look at Steven. He has this Tom Brady look going on. Even his smile is similar. Got me.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

These people have been in the house 10 days? Someone said that last night that it was the 10th day. How can that be?

I would personally prefer if they did the SHO Ad from day one that they enter. I guess CBS needs a big first episode to get an audience. But seriously, there is so much we could learn and know about everyone if we were there from day 1.

Re: The Official "Big Brother 10" Discussion Threa

So I hate Renny, totally annoying bitch. I am betting she was gone the minute she was nominated.

Jessie is cool, he is hot and all, but it was stupid to keep yourself out of the game.

Jerry is already acting like he is king of the house. He was acting like that before he even stepping in the house. That might come back to bite him in the ass.

Steven is a cutie. I am loving him so far. Don't know how good he will be at the game. And which side will he take? The girls or the boys? I am guessing girls, cause there are already two conservatives on the show. No telling if they will be accepting of him or not...yet.

April...meh

Keisha...she looks like she has some brains on her. No telling what could happen though.

I think Angie will be one to watch out for. They didn't spend much time on the girls this episode though. So I am guessing the producers are planning for the guys to take over and cut out the girls one by one. That would be my guess too. None of the girls seemed like strong competitors. Although, it was only the first episode, and I havent read through this thread yet.

Brian, hot and smart. He will definitely be a force to watch out for.

Dan, Brians puppet, but you never know what could happen. He was the one who approached Brian, so he might take over the reigns, or there might be conflict that arises.

Libra seems like a smart girl, can't wait to see what happens for her.

Memphis I love, but he seems too cut throat. So that might cost him.

Ollie is cool too, but I don't know how much of a force he will be.

Michelle...meh

I am rooting for Brian and Steven at the end. With Memphis as the 3 in line. Fuck the girls.
