The people that everyone loves to hate is the reason BB has become a hit for this summer. You can bet BB and CBS will try to stir the pot even more in the coming season - more Chimas, more Jessies, more Natalies with a scattering of Jeffs and Jordans, and perhaps some gay players too.

I love that all the bitching about certain players and screams that they have ruined the show are the very reasons the show has gained a larger audience.

CBS' `Big Brother' gaining in viewers
Published: 9/9/09, 5:26 PM EDT
By DAVID BAUDER
NEW YORK (AP) - CBS is nearing summer's end as the only major broadcaster with more viewers than last summer, helped in part by a revived "Big Brother" franchise.

Three separate prime-time "Big Brother" episodes were among Nielsen Media Research's 25 most-watched programs last week. The series that throws a group of strangers together in a house and films their every move is in its 11th edition, and viewership is up 7 percent from last year.

That defies traditional TV gravity; it's rare that a long-running program would show growth. The series mined the latest reality TV star known more for bad behavior than anything else: Chima Simone was kicked off for disobeying producers' orders to put on a microphone, then throwing the microphone in a spa. She also apologized for calling a cast member of Lebanese descent a terrorist.

CBS viewership is up 5 percent over last summer, Nielsen said.

No wonder that, with a week to go for this season's "Big Brother," CBS on Wednesday announced that a 12th edition of the series will be broadcast in summer 2010.

NBC's "America's Got Talent" topped the ratings last week, for both its Tuesday and Wednesday editions. ABC, which has generally had a wipeout of a summer, had a stronger week than usual with a country music special and Saturday night college football game.

For the week, CBS averaged 5.9 million viewers (3.9 rating, 7 share), NBC had 5.7 million (3.7, 77), ABC had 4.7 million (2.9, 5), Fox had 3.8 million (2.4, 4), My Network TV had 1.4 million (0.9, 2), the CW had 990,000 (0.7, 1) and ION Television had 620,000 (0.4, 1).

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision led with a 3.2 million average (1.7 rating, 3 share), TeleFutura had 1.1 million and Telemundo had 1 million (both 0.5, 1) and Azteca had 160,000 (0.1, 0).

NBC's "Nightly News" topped the evening newscasts with an average of 7.6 million viewers (5.1, 11). ABC's "World News," on the week anchor Charles Gibson announced his retirement, was second with 7.2 million (4.8, 10) and the "CBS Evening News" had 5.4 million viewers (3.7, 8).

A ratings point represents 1,149,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 114.9 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.

For the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6, the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships: "America's Got Talent" (Tuesday), NBC, 12.81 million; "America's Got Talent" (Wednesday), NBC, 12.39 million; "NCIS," CBS, 10.1 million; "Two and a Half Men," CBS, 8.46 million; "The Big Bang Theory," CBS, 8.34 million; "CSI: Miami," CBS, 7.89 million; "Big Brother 11" (Tuesday), CBS, 7.79 million; "The Mentalist," CBS, 7.73 million; "Hell's Kitchen," Fox, 7.63 million; "Wipeout," ABC, 7.62 million.

Does anyone else get the feeling Julie doesn't like Natalie? Seemed like she almost didn't want to talk to her in their one on one.

Not that I blame her, of course.

I basically think it was because of Jeff and Jordan and not Jessie

Russell's gone and now Lydia's all over Jordan.

Lydia and Jordan are telling each other that they'll have each other's backs to the end. They love and trust each other and will never put each other on the block. (Please Jordan, distance yourself from this skank...)

LOL this was on the first days

OK so the more I think about it, the more I can see why Kevin has been talking about Natalie being a big threat for jury votes. I don't necessarily agree with him because I suspect if Natalie gets in front of the jury and continues to claim honesty and integrity, she will sink herself (think Nicole, Ivette, Ryan and Memphis). Juries hate that shit and they react even more negatively when a woman does it. If you've lied or manipulated, you're better off owning that as game and pointing out your opponent's lack of game (the one thing Danielle didn't do with Lisa in BB3).

However, Kevin is obviously not thinking of it that way. Most of the houseguests this season seem to only be thinking of "Who was this jury member at some point friendly with before they were evicted?" And from where Kevin sits, Natalie is friends with Jessie, and was at some point friends with Russell, Jeff and Jordan. And that's of course four votes to win.

Basically if it's Kevin vs Natalie, Kevin is guaranteed Lydia and America, and he has a good chance of getting Michele too. Jessie won't vote for him, and Jeff might not either, so he'll need either Russell or Jordan, which isn't impossible, but from where he sits, those probably look like automatic votes for Natalie as well. And if that's really how Kevin is thinking then of course he should have taken Michele's deal because she believed the same thing (that Nat was unbeatable), and no way then was she taking Nat to the finals (whom she also hated).

And indeed, Kevin vs Michele could have gone either way, but in that scenario, Kevin would get Lydia and Natalie for sure, and with Jessie/Jeff/Russell all having various degrees of conflict/uneasiness with Michele, there was certainly more wiggle room for him. I would bet on Michele in that scenario, but I wouldn't put a lot of money on it. It was very possible for Kevin to win there. It would have also guaranteed him a F2 spot.

As things stand now in the post-Michele game, I still think Kevin has a chance against Nat, but according to his own logic, he needs to evict Natalie, and that means he should have let Michele do that for him at F3. The problem now is that if Kevin evicts Natalie himself and takes Jordan to the finals (because Jordan is highly unlikely to win HOH, and if she did, she may not take Kevin), he could very well lose Natalie's vote out of spite. And that's a crucial vote since Jordan will have Jeff and America guaranteed, and most likely Michele, which means Nat's vote would give Jordan the victory.

In other words, I actually think Kevin HAS to take Natalie to the end now (ugh) but if he really thinks she's unbeatable -- and if he's correct -- then he made the biggest mistake in the game by evicting Michele.

I think what it comes down to is that this is one thing Michele get dead on. When Julie asked her why she thought Kevin didn't bite and she said he wasn't any more sure that he coudl beat her than he could be Nat and I'm pretty sure he's right. As a given Michele had three votes (Jeff, Jordan, Russel) which was more than Nat would have anyway. And you could tell Michele thought she'd beat Kevin too, no matter how much she said the opposite to him when Ross Matthews asked her 'don't you think you'd still beat him because people woudl respect your gameplay' she did a horrible job hiding her HELL YEAH smirk. Had She been a sure bet to beat he'd have bought her pitch but she's MORE of a danger than Nat and he has to have seen it. I think Kevin's line of thought was between Jordan and Nat he's more likely to win his way to F2 and make his decision there.

I'm sure its just me but out of the three there I want Natalie to win. There I said it on the record I like Natalie more than the other two.

Kevin and Jordan are like nails on a chalkboard to me I literally can't deal with either of them. Now I will say Natalie would not be someone I could be friends with outside of the house. But I can't just go by that since I wouldn't be able to stand any of the final three in day to day life.

I feel like Jordan is only here because of Jeff. Without him she would never have made it this far IMO. At least with Kevin and Natalie they played the game a little.

Well, to be honest, Natalie didn't have to play the game until the Coup d'État was used

^^ But from then on, she played it better than Jeff, Jordan, Russell and Michele. And anyway smart players know that the best way to play BB is to NOT play in the first few weeks. I hate Natalie, but I can't deny her gameplay.

Only Kevin deserves it more.

She might have game but she has a horrible social game... and all those lies? uh oh

Hey pmgunnerxx, I remember chatting with you and marley a while back, but I haven't run into you since then. Welcome to our thread.

Howdy Nik I've lurking in this thread since its start I am ashamed to say but thanks for the welcome none the less. Between moving and my pc being down I haven't been able to post much. Besides I was rooting for the Jessie, Natalie (and for the first week and a half only) Ronnie so I wasn't about to come in here and declare that lol.

I tend to root for villians and underdogs

YAWN!

Nik, I can't believe you're still watching those whores.

Go make love to your boyfriend (or me) ! !oops!

I didnt like Kevin at first either. I didnt dislike him but he definitely wasnt a favorite. But I do think Natalie would make a good winner. And I think she deserves it. I do prefer Kevin though.

It would have been so good to have you for diversity of thought and opinion. It seemed a rule of the thread to hate Jessie and anyone associated with him.

Nat keeps telling Kevin over and over how she threw that endurance part to him and how he NEVER would have outlasted her, so he better take her to the finals. lol.
And she's doubtless convinced herself it's true. I just have to wonder about her in real life; where oh where have these behaviors of hers been successful? Oh yeah, in her own mind, that's where.

Like maybe she's told her boyfriend over and over how he'll never find anyone else like her until he finally believed it and proposed.
God that's depressing -- and probably true. Have any more of that champagne? :)

Always. Thanks god my parents are lushes with taste (and income).

Let's down a bottle while we watch the video of that asshole Joe Wilson calling Obama a liar during his speech. I like to rewind and watch Pelosi's reaction over and over. She looked like she was this close to telling Biden, "Girrrrl, hold my gold..."
NO!!! The convergence of politics and Big Brother is doing funny things to my brain.

Chris Matthews: "Watching Jessie strike those poses gives me a funny feeling running up my leg."

And that Joe Wilson is a pathetic heckler. He should be censured by the House and forced to watch Gordon Brown and David Cameron go at it.

Well I am happy to see one other person on the 'dark' side. I love Kev and am hoping he wins, but a Nat would would be good because she has played a pitbull game and it has worked beautifully for her.

However, after listening to Nat and Kev on AD last night, I think from their DR sessions and this new game they feel BB doesn't want them to win. If Jordan wins the second part of the comp (if this game is it) then she and Kev will battle for HoH. If this game is the game for the second part of the HoH it seems a set up for Jordan to win. Kev and Nat have been constantly pressured from the DR to do things the DR's way. That is unfair in a reality game show.

My money is on Kev to win.

See, I'm not completely sold on Nat playing a brilliant game. I admit she's done well at points, like lying to Jeff to get Russell out, and winning HOH when it was really important, but I think it's been more dumb luck than anything that's got her to F3.

It works if you imagine Janelle as Pelosi, the Nerd Herd as Joe Wilson, and Kaysar as Obama.

Funny, I don't remember Obama losing three times because of horrible strategies and short sightedness.

1. New Hampshire
2. Texas
3. Pennsylvania :)
Health-care hasn't even gotten past the Senate Finance committee and nervous-nelly liberals are acting like Obama already gave up the farm.
Nervous-nelly! What lexicological prowess! :) Oh, I get so fed up with the left sometimes too. A quick perusal of the comments on Huff Post is enough to convince anyone that the right does not have a monopoly on stupidity.
