The Official "Big Brother 12" Discussion Thread!

Salemite,
I want to thank you in advance for all the great tidbits and details, You rock! I can't wait for the show to begin!

I'm fully expecting Enzo to be expelled from the house within the first few weeks.

He makes AIDS jokes, he mocks women and gay men, and his two favorite houseguests of all time consist of the guy who burns people with cigarettes and threatens to rape them to death, and the guy who holds knives to people's throats and pretends to crush their skulls with vacuum cleaners.

Everyone else sees that this guy is seriously mentally unstable, right?

'Big Brother's' Chima Simone Runs Down the New Houseguests

Big Brother’s Answer to "Jersey Shore":
Enzo Palumbo, a 32-year-old insurance adjuster from Bayonne, N.J.

A self-proclaimed character, he thinks he’s already a celebrity and has apparently used the Jersey Shore Nickname Generator because the best he could come up with was “Meow Meow." We all know “The Situation” is taken, but really?! His strategy, plainly put, is winning. And with Mafia as part of his planned alliance name, that just may happen. By any means necessary.

The Definitive Diva of the Season:
Monet Stunson, a 24-year-old model from Glen Carbon, Ill.

Monet told the producers she couldn’t wait to taste slop so we know she’s a good liar. She has strutted her stuff for Gwen Stefani’s label L.A.M.B, placed 1st runner up for Miss Illinois USA 2008, and one of the accomplishments she is most proud of is her "good driver’s license picture." I can hear the collective “She’s a spoiled, entitled, little b----*” grumblings from here. Oh wait, that was directed at me? OK, never mind.

Obviously proud of her looks, this princess lives a privileged life, yet will soon get a cold shower wake-up call when she finds out slop isn’t so tasty after all, especially after a full week of what I can best describe as pig’s feed masquerading as flavorless oatmeal.

The Brains Are Back in a Big Way:
Matt Hoffman, a 32-year-old web designer from Elgin, Ill.

Former contestant on the fourth season of NBC’s "Average Joe: The Joe Strikes Back," Matt is the smartest person to ever play the game (his words). Even telling the producers he’s smarter than them. Word to the wise, Matt, don’t talk smack to the producers.

A seasoned reality competitor & MENSA member whose motto is “I don’t want the world, I just want your half” should fare just fine in the cutthroat "Big Brother" house.

Foxy Floater:
Ragan Fox, a 34-year-old college professor from Los Angeles

Ragan’s strategy is to float-on until war is declared while also maintaining a secret alliance on the side. He plans to use his gayness for good & evil so maybe Enzo will get that “good gay guy” he’s looking for in his mafia alliance. Writer, poet, and podcast producer, Ragan also brings an intellectual creativity to the game. Humor is his thing so I expect many inspired diary room sessions from him; each one presented with him possibly sporting a different color bow tie? I can only hope. Maybe his penchant for them will rival last season’s Kevin Campbell’s obsession with scarves.

She’s a Hustler Baby, She Just Wants You to Know:
Rachel Reilly, a 26-year-old chemistry graduate student/VIP cocktail waitress from Las Vegas

Rachel’s strategy is to employ that well-honed VIP bottle service skill set to the game. That translates to using what you got to get what you want, the ultimate result being big money in Vegas and a nice prize in "Big Brother." And this girl’s got a lot: Hawaiian Tropic bikini body, brains, beauty, & personality. This sexy scientist will win the men over and the women? Well, my guess is that they’re expendable as far as she’s concerned.

Secretive Salesman:
Lane Elenburg, a 24-year-old oil rig salesman from Decatur, Texas

Lane is not revealing his strategy. How did he get away with that one? That was a biography must-have last season! A former collegiate athlete, he’s well equipped for the physical challenges. In addition, this muscle-bound man works in public relations so he’s very familiar with spinning public opinion and that will undoubtedly help him in this game.

Doesn’t Do Lemons Unless They’re a Garnish:
Annie Whittington, a 27-year-old bartender from Tampa, Fla.

Her life’s motto is “When life gives you lemons … say f--- the lemons and bail.” Well, that’s the strategy I employed in the game, but not Annie. She has declared, "I will be the winner of Big Brother." and plans to use her bisexuality as a secret weapon. Outgoing, overly dramatic, and loyal, I expect some fireworks from this girl if and/or when that loyalty is betrayed. Disloyalty is inevitable and she claims to have the worst of a very important component in this game, luck.

Quiet Storm:
Kristen Bitting, a 24-year-old shoe boutique manager from Philadelphia

Kristen is willing to do close to anything to win. She grabs life by the balls so surely she won’t hold back in the "Big Brother" house. According to her bio, she is very misunderstood by strangers. That is not necessarily an asset in a game where you have an extremely short time to make a good first impression on your fellow housemates. She says we’ve never seen anything like her in reality TV … well, don’t shelter us from the storm, Kristen. We want to see this!

Purported Backstabber:
Hayden Moss, a 24-year-old college student from Tempe, Ariz.

Hayden claims he’ll stab anyone in the back to win a half a million dollars, but after reading his bio, I’m not so sure. Something about him, maybe his fun loving, hang-loose attitude and charming smile, exudes a guy who is there to win, but undeniably also there to have a good time at all cost.

Jeff’s Doppelganger?
Brendon Villegas, a 30-year-old high school swim coach from Riverside, Calif.

Not according to his bio, but CBS’s “The Early Show “ clip sure portrays him as the next Jeff Schroeder, a huge fan favorite from last season. He may be our resident "Big Brother" heartthrob looking for a showmance with a girl bearing a sweet rack personality, but in his bio, he states he wants to win women over and then turn them against each other. While he claims he’s scared of that lovely girl that may win him over with her kind-heart, I don’t sense fear. I detect cold calculation. A PhD in Biom. Physics isn’t needed to orchestrate catfights, but his intelligence could help him win the game.

A Mix of Chelsea Handler & Martha Stewart:
Britney Haynes, a 22-year-old hotel sales manager from Huntington, Ark.

Sooooo Britney is a comedian that knows her way around crafts and a kitchen? That remains to be seen, but she did tell America to remember whatever comes out of her mouth is purely sarcasm. Her strategy is to play hard to get. Um, this isn’t "The Bachelor," but OK. Egomaniacs and old people are her most undesired roommates. Well, one out of two ain’t bad. The eldest houseguest is 40 years young.

Survivor:
Kathy Hillis, a 40-year-old deputy sheriff from Texarkana, Ark.

Criminal profiling, reading people, and investigating are part of her daily job so I don’t see her being fooled very easily. Self-described as tenacious & having survived ovarian cancer her life’s motto is “Never give up, never give in, and never use the word defeat …” She may have to put aside her dislike of living with women to get ahead in this game, but I don’t see that being a problem for her. Kathy vowed to her Grandma that she would apply to Big Brother when she got well, now she’s there to win.

Pot Stirrer:
Andrew Gordon, a 39-year-old podiatrist from Miami Beach, Fla.

Andrew describes himself as sneaky. Am I gullible enough to fall strictly for that little tidbit? Yes, but here are some other clues that seal the deal for me: First, his bio reads like the definition of saboteur, especially his reference to his missing his daughter. That would be so sweet if it didn’t come second to watching ESPN daily as the most difficult part of living in the "Big Brother" house.

This man has no desire to win over the audience. Bingo! He doesn’t have to because he’s working on behalf of America. Secondly, his first two favorite activities are gaming and poker. Lastly, he wants to incorporate many players’ strategies, most notably, Russell Hantz of "Survivor," a notorious saboteur. Russell’s name was actually tossed around as a desired addition to the "Big Brother 12" house by many fans.

Maybe those lucky viewers will get a little taste of the tampering with Andrew. We shall see...

Now to my pick for this season’s America’s player, “The Saboteur."

Inspired by "The Mole," this season’s twist includes a player that is there solely to sabotage their fellow houseguests. The player will not try to win the $500,000 grand prize, but he or she can win cash by getting to at least the halfway point in the game.

“The Saboteur,” who many are referring to as a revised version of season 8’s “America’s Player,” will be revealed during the live eviction show on July 15.

Stay tuned.

Here are a few tidbits about Rachel from a former friend of hers.
She's originally from NC.

They used to be best friends. She changed a lot. They grew apart.

She's bubbly, outgoing, unique but outrageous. Can be fun at times. She may seem fake.

Was a chemistry teacher at a college in Vegas.

Producers of "The Bad Girls Club" asked Rachel if she wanted to be on the show. Said no because she didn't want to ruin her image.

Thinks she'll do a showmance.

Had a boob job.

Good at hiding intelligence.

Very flirtatious.
Interesting that she was asked to be on the Bad Girl's Club.

What? No Russell from Survivor?

The Chelsea Handler/ Martha Stewart sounds like a fun bitch.

Matt is adorable. :D and Andrew is an Orthodox Jewish doctor. Kewl.

The house looks like they went to Miami. Is that Blanche Devereaux's bedroom wall paper?

LoL @ one of the media guys saying the palm tree bedroom looks like Blanche's bedroom on The Golden Girls. That was my first thought when I saw it. Then again, the house is a Miami beach theme, so I guess that fits.

Hmmm. I think Brendon will go far...not because he's pretty, but mostly because the tactic of turning people on one another can be clever or totally foolish. Given that he has a PhD (but he's a high school swim coach, wtf?) he's clearly not a dim bulb. Sadly, with Michele last year...academic intelligence is almost entirely irrelevant in this game. Bright people on this show don't have a history of being socially intelligent.

Observant Jew tackles TV in Big Brother 12

It takes talent to be an observant Jew in Hollywood, let alone on reality television, but along comes Andrew Gordon, a 39-year-old podiatrist from Miami Beach, Fla. to prove it’s possible.

In case you’re thinking: "A Jewish podiatrist? Whouda thought?" Consider some of the more challenging issues Gordon is about to face.

Gordon is the latest addition to Big Brother 12, a reality series about "contestants who live in a camera-rigged house and have their lives taped 24 hours a day as they compete, fight, and occasionally sleep together," according to TVGuide.com.

Why a religious person who holds himself to the highest moral standards (one hopes) would voluntarily subject himself to the moral turpitude so often manifested in reality television is surely the reason producers are betting on good entertainment. On the promo video, Gordon declares, "I am a practicing Jew," which of course means, he’s bound to become the house freak.

"There's so many things they don’t realize," Gordon says, already stirring up drama. "Sitting at the table, I wont be using their dishes; I wont even be eating their food."

Gordon also plans to observe Shabbat—which means, everyone on the show is going to learn a thing or two about the rigors of Jewish halacha (law).

"It's already going to be tough in that house, so it's going to be even tougher dealing with these extra little things," Gordon told the Associated Press. "People are probably going to look at me as an outsider and wonder what I'm doing and why I’m not eating their food. It's something I've had to explain my whole life as a practicing Jew. Whatever happens, I'll deal with it."

Hollywood seems to enjoy the communal alienation and ostracism that comes with stereotyping its minor-est minority -- perhaps a by-product of that anti-ethnic spirit so well wrought by Tinseltown's founders. In any other circumstance Jewish alienation might be deemed troublesome, but on this show, it looks to be an asset. Apparently, a house "mole" will not compete for the usual $500,000 prize, but attempt to win cash based on his/her ability to "disrupt the lives of the other houseguests."

Authoritarian kashrut should be a tremendous advantage in that department.

Like AP, this whole disruption thing can get extra annoying, especially since AP helped douchebag and his vile off spring get to the final 2 when AP was first introduced. And the things that America has them do to disrupt is so childish and boring.

ha ha! The devout Jewish man could win this. I'm just saying.

'Big Brother 12's' Rachel: 'I'm a hustler! I am going to hustle the 'Big Brother' house guests'

rachel-reilly-big-brother-12.jpg

VIP Vegas cocktail waitress/chemistry graduate student Rachel Reilly is one of the "Big Brother 12" hamsters. Find out what her hustler strategy is for the game and more!

When asked why she wants to go on "Big Brother," Rachel says, "I love 'Big Brother" I am probably one of the No. 1 fans ... I'm really competitive and I have so many facets to my personality and I watch the show and I'm like, 'I could be that person, I know what I would do!' and I think I could win."

So who is her fave competitor of all time? "Janelle. I love her! She's cute, she's fun, she's super-competitive ... You're going to see a lot of Rachel trying to be Janelle."

Conversely, Chima gets the "least favorite" title. "I really don't like Chima because she's so whiny! And also, c'mon girl, this is the opportunity of a lifetime! ... I couldn't imagine not being grateful for being on the show. I can't even imagine that I've made it this far."

'Big Brother 12's' Ragan on his favorite player, who he'll clash with in the house

ragan-fox-big-brother-12.jpg

Meet Ragan Fox, one of the newest contestants on "Big Brother 12." He is a 34-year-old gay college professor from West Hollywood and is a self-described "student of the game."

"I have been a big fan of the show for the last decade. I started watching Season 2 and ever since ... I haven't missed a single episode," Ragan tells us, as to why he wanted to do the show. "I'm also a very competitive person."

When asked who his favorite "Big Brother" player is, Ragan laughs at his "cliche gay" choice.

"My all-time favorite player is Janelle, hands down ... I think one of the reasons she's very compelling in the context of the show is because she's somebody you can tell who just genuinely, earnestly loved playing the game ... I know when I'm watching the show I really get frustrated when people come on the show and are given such an awesome opportunity and they complain and whine."

Ragan also hilariously tells us why he didn't like Mike "Boogie" or Chima as contestants and what types of people he is going to clash with in the house. Watch and see!

Brendon is HOT! and really the only guy I find hot. Can't wait for the first ep!

RealPlayer SuperPass is (finally) starting to post video interviews with the new cast.

You have to be subscribed to the feeds to watch them, but I'll summarize the more interesting parts as I watch them and post the highlights here.

From Annie's SuperPass interview...

annie_whittington.jpg

- She's been in a relationship with a woman for the last two years and she has no plans for a showmance in the house. However, she's bisexual, so she's going to flirt with the guys. "I will definitely flirt but I won't touch. I promise. I will not do anything wrong or anything out of character, but yes, I'll flirt. Men are too easy not to."

- She has no strategy for winning the game. "My strategy is to not have a strategy. If I go in with a set plan and the people are different than I think, I'll freak out and self-sabotage. I'm going to meet [the other houseguests] and go from there. I'm just going to feel it out and play each week. The show is about adapting and I'm the type of person who can adapt."

- If she wins the show, she plans to donate money to cancer research. Her mother is a breast cancer survivor. She says one of the most traumatic moments of her life was when she had to shave her mother's head at age 16.

- She fully expects to win the $500,000 prize. "You have to be confident in yourself. Why even bother going into the house if you don't think you can win?"

- Her biggest fear is having to live in the house with a bunch of angry, racist, prejudice people. "I get very riled up over race issues and prejudice issues. I'm assuming the types of people I don't want to be there will be there, so I'm mentally preparing for that now. I'm really gonna have to tone down my personality to deal with those types of people."

- She's not a fan of bitter juries. "If somebody gets a lie told to them, they take it so personally. It's a game, people are gonna lie to you. I hate in the end when people will vote for their friend [instead of the better player]. If you lied to me and stabbed me in the back, you should win. Whether or not I like you, I'm gonna vote for who was the smartest player -- not for my friend."

- Her favorites from past seasons are Evel Dick, Crazy James and Renny. Her least favorite is Jerry.

- She is fiercely competitive. "I'm very competitive. I do not like losing. I do not like giving up. I don't like making deals and dropping. I want to do the best I can in every challenge."

From Monet's SuperPass interview...

monet_stunson.jpg

- She considers herself to be a fierce competitor, but she doesn't want to come across as too competitive in the beginning. "There's nothing I'm afraid of. I'm a competitor. I might be a force to be reckoned with during the challenges, but I don't want to come off as too fierce of a competitor too soon, because that puts a target on your back. I don't want HOH the first week. It puts a huge target on your back."

- She has no doubt that she will win the $500,000 prize. "I honestly believe that I'm going to win Big Brother 12. I can play dirty. I'm pretty manipulative and I think I can get people to do what I want to be done while keeping my hands clean."

- She's single, but she's not looking for a showmance in the house. However, she's willing to flirt with the guys and tell them what they want to hear if it furthers her game.

- She doesn't plan to move out of her parents house anytime soon. "I live at home and I love it. I have it really good there and I don't wanna leave. My parents are stuck with me."

- She says the most difficult part of living in the Big Brother house will be not having people around who cater to her. "I won't have anyone there to do things for me that are usually done for me at home." (For example, her parents still do her laundry.)

- She's very nervous about the twist and what it might be.

- If she ends up in the jury house, she plans to vote for who played the best game instead of holding grudges and taking things personally. She believes the stress of the Big Brother house makes people act in ways they normally wouldn't in real life.

From Matt's SuperPass interview...

matt_hoffman.jpg

- He's a huge fan of Big Brother. "I've seen every episode since season 1." He's applied to be on the show numerous times in the past and he's even gotten some callbacks. "I wait for May and sometimes the phone rings and sometimes it doesn't."

- "Honest as shit, I don't know why they picked me. I'm waiting to get into the house just to see why the fuck they picked me. I did the exact same thing [in my audition tape] that I've done every single year and it was not anything exciting." He was supposed to be on Season 11 but the finale conflicted with his wedding date so he had to drop out of the cast.

- He calls himself a "nerdy tech computer guy."

- He and his wife were pro-contraception and "almost abstinent" during the months of January and February just to make sure she didn't get pregnant. "We couldn't be breeding. The wedding ruined the last thing and I was like, 'this is not getting fucked up again.' I could not have her birthing right around mid-September, it just could not happen. I'm a super-fan of this show. I plan my fertility around it!"

- He's a people person. "I tend to be the most intellectual person in a room of people. I love to people-watch and kind of gauge other people in conversation, just to see how they think and live. Even if I don't like certain types, it's still entertaining to be around them."

- He likes to say "fuck" alot.

- He wants to make quick connections with other people in the house. "Within the first 24 - 36 hours, I want to have a genuine conversation with every person in the house. Nothing about the game... just talk to them about them and about me. I could give a shit less about these people or the conversations we'll be having but I can't let them know that." According to him, ass-kissing is less obvious if you get to know someone from the very beginning.

- He thinks the first week will be the hardest part. After that, it'll be "butter."

- When he's in the house, he plans to forget about his family for three months and focus solely on the game. "Even something that's supposed to be a reward [like a letter from home] could get in your head and fuck you up."

From Britney's SuperPass interview...

britney_haynes.jpg

- Britney is a huge fan of the show. She's watched since Season 1 when she was only fourteen years old. Her favorites are Janelle and Dr. Will. "They were funny. They cracked me up all the time." Her favorite season was All-Stars.

- "Being on the show is surreal. I can remember when I was home how into it I was and how stressed out about it I would be all the time. And to think that people will be stressing out about me now, it cracks me up."

- She considers herself a very argumentative person. "I may want to argue with people all the time but I'm gonna try to rein that in a little bit and not be so controlling and aggressive. I'm gonna try to only give my true opinions when I'm in the Diary Room. When I'm around everybody else I'm gonna kinda go with the consensus. I don't want to be the outcast or the person that everyone else is honing in on."

- Her strategy is to never make herself the focus of the house. "I don't have to call all the shots. I don't ever have to be the quarterback. I'll be the lineman or the waterboy."

- If she wins the show, she plans to donate some of the money to charity (autism awareness, reading programs, etc.) and gain financial independence so she doesn't have to ask her parents for monetary help anymore.

- She loves gay people. "I love my gays. Love 'em! I have been blessed with amazing, amazing friends. Some of them are homosexual guys and they crack me up all the time. They're so hysterical. Just the things that they say crack me up. Gossiping with them is one of my favorite things to do."

- The most difficult part of living in the Big Brother house for her will be sharing a bathroom. "I'm just gonna have to grin and bare it but it's definitely not something I'm excited about."

- She has an irrational fear of birds. "Just talking about them stresses me out. Like... it's a medical condition phobia. It's not, 'Oh that's cute, she's scared of birds.' No. It's like... terror, panic attacks, death, devastation, world-ending absolute panic. I HATE birds. I cannot remember a time in my life that I haven't been terrified of birds."

- "I have a personality you wouldn't expect. I'm very sarcastic all the time. I have a dry personality. I say things that are completely politically incorrect. I have no filter. People always expect me to be sweet and quiet -- the little blond girl. That's not what you get at all. I'm very loud and commanding. I say the most offensive things."

From Hayden's SuperPass interview...

hayden_moss.jpg

- He considers himself a very athletic, sporty guy. He loves baseball, football and snowboarding.

- He sounds nothing like you would expect. He speaks very quickly and his voice reminds me a little bit of Ronnie's. His mouth is weird. He comes across as very laid back and brainless. Typical meathead jock.

- He's only seen one season of Big Brother, and that was BB11.

- He says the most difficult part of living in the BB house will be being around people he doesn't agree with 24/7. When asked about how he plans to deal with that, he says "I don't have a choice. I was raised to be polite all the time. That's kinda how I grew up. I don't understand how you can NOT be courteous sometimes. It blows my mind. How I'm gonna react to that... I'll tell 'em how I feel. I'll voice my opinion. I'm always forward."

- "I'm not a neat freak but I like things sanitary. If somebody leaves their dishes in the sink, I'll be like, 'Dude! They're YOUR dishes, can you clean them up?!'"

- He grew up in the country. His parents are divorced. He has a sister and an adopted brother.

- It doesn't bother him when people have negative opinions of him. "I'm confident enough in myself that I don't care what other people think. If you don't like me, you know... whatever. Your loss."

- He isn't afraid of conflict. "It's a game. I'm there to win, obviously. I'm not afraid of conflict at all."

- If he wins the show, he plans to donate money to Athletes in Action.

- "My strategy is to go in there and talk to some of the female contestants to get them on my side and align with at least one strong male competitor."

I'll summarize the rest of the SuperPass interviews when they're posted.
