The Official "Big Brother 12" Discussion Thread!

Wow, Ryan's in rehab, Matt and Adam are in jail, Natalie and Sheila are just short of being in a mental institution, James, Chelsia and Joshua are all vile...I guess the writer's strike didn't leave any time for background and psych tests huh?

I really don't want to defend Dick, as I hate him as much as you guys do, but wasn't Jen the genius trying to grab a lit cigarette out of his hand when she got burned?

Seeing Jameka's name again reminds me... Jameka, Jameka, Jameka could have took the $5000, but she didn't! ;_; Oh, Seahag/Amber, you crazy mess.

^^ He was blowing smoke in her face, she tried to grab it out of his hand and he intentionally pressed it to her skin. It wasn't an accident.

I still liked them at the time. After hearing all this stuff, it doesn't make me happy about Dick. I don't really feel any different about Danielle though.

No worries altlover, I didn't mean you at all when I referred to Dick's fans. I was referring to lots of online fans that year on other sites who kept defending his atrocious behavior. That year on FORT for example, you were either Team Jen or Team Donato.

Really, I think the casting was only a dud this year. BB10 and BB11 both had great casts, having plenty of people to love and plenty to hate. BB8 and BB9 most only had the latter, but that's still less boring than BB12's angle: having only people who put you asleep.

I didn't really like the casting last year either. They need to cast likable people who are at least moderately competent. BB10 was phenomenal in terms of casting.

I agree. BB11 was entertaining but I didn't really have anybody to root for. The "good guys" consisted of people who were merely not as reprehensible/annoying/crazy as the "bad guys", but not really interesting on their own. And while I'm glad Jordan beat Natalie, she was easily the dumbest winner this show has ever produced (and one of the dumbest people I've ever seen on TV) and not someone I ultimately cared that much about.

BB10 was the gold standard in terms of casting. After that, my second favorite would probably be BB6, not necessarily for competence but certainly for entertainment value. Both of those seasons had clearly defined heroes battling clearly defined villains, which is always fun, and where BB10 produced a happy ending, BB6 resulted in the ascension of a queen.

Even early send offs in those season had more impact, game, and/or likability than people who clung in until the end of this season.

I'm surprised we agree somewhat about Jordan. I'm glad people aren't pretending she was a good player. I didnt want her to win over Natalie though. I definitely didnt care for Natalie at all. But I couldnt stand Jordan and Jeff b/c the game was pretty much handed to them by producers and Jeff still lost. Plus most importantly they had no knowledge or respect for the game. It isnt exactly their fault that Grodner most likely recruited them on a Greyhound bus. But I just really like a winner that knows the game and had some semblance of a plan. One of those clowns didnt even know who Julie was.

BB10 was good casting but calling it the gold standard is completely ludicrous. I know the main reason people here love it so much is b/c they are in gay love with Dan but it wasnt that great. But I do not share that bias as I do not find Dan the least bit attractive. BB 4, 5, and 6 blow 10 outta the water.

Even though Dan WAS my favorite, I thought BB10 had a really strong cast all around. Michelle screaming about how she has to wear a LEATAAAAAAAHD. Libra bragging about how she graduated "magna cum laude, LOOK IT UP" from Rice University. Keesha's hyena laugh. April being a cunt because she thought she was so much better than Keesha, only for Keesha to win the fan favorite vote. Renny being a crazy Louisiana drag queen. Overall I actually remember all of these people and the things they did. Not so for this year.

And I thought BB11 was much of the same. Jordan is dumb as a rock but she was still cute and likable. I was SO behind Michele as a fellow socially awkward bisexual nerd until she came out of the show and went insane. I hated Natalie and Jessie with the intensity of a thousand burning suns. Lydia and Chima were completely out of their minds. Kevin was easily the most likable gay guy in twelve seasons of BB to me.

God, I miss those casts.

I agree with you, aijalon, that BB5 and BB6 had really solid casts too. BB4... I kind of disagree there. I started with BB1, skipped BB2, and came back for BB3. And BB4 was a massive downgrade after how amazing BB3 was. I can't even remember any of those people except for the final two. Jun was my favorite that year, by far.

Dan was the 2nd best winner after Will in my opinion but BB10 was awesome for more than just him. The Dan/Memphis/Renny/Keesha alliance vs the April/Ollie/Jerry alliance in the second half was thrilling, and there were plenty of awesome personalities, fights and drama from all the above plus Libra and Michelle AND early evictees Brian and Angie were fun on the feeds. My god, compare that to this season!

I don't see how anyone could NOT think Jordan was a moron, but I'm with slipintothefog, she was still far more likable to most fans than Natalie. Her win doesn't bother me because this game is inherently silly and I don't really believe in the "deserving/non-deserving paradigm." This isn't like gymnastics where there are moves and skills to appraise. All you have to do is last till the end and get people to vote for you. Jordan did that. Natalie obviously had a good game to get to the end but she did nothing all summer long to garner votes (and plenty to alienate votes) and that is ultimately how you win. Juries vote for who they like and you know that going into it. I don't blame any of them -- including Jessie -- for not voting for such a horrible person. It was her own damn fault.

BB 10 had Dan, Memphis, Keesha, and Renny all of which who showed themselves to be both likable and actual players of the game. Not to mention Libra, Jessie, and Michelle who whether you love them or hate them definitely are big presences who drive the story and generated wonderfully entertaining soundbites. April and Jerry did a good job as the villains and even early cast offs like Brian and Angie were interesting to just sit around and watch. Even the most boring castmate, Ollie, exploded and provdided a few solid scenes.

^^ Seriously! Even a dud like Ollie and a jerk like Jessie still did things to cause drama which is more than we can say for half the cast this season. Really the only forgettable person on BB10 for me was Steven, who I've never liked and still don't like today. Every time I hear him in an interview he seems to let some coded racist thing shine through -- or he just touts his own bad BB blog or his new porn career.

I am one of the few that liked Jessie, and was even glad to see him burst the bubble in Brit's Pandora's Box. In his first season he was all over the top persona which he stills uses in a bigger than life way. He and Rennie going at each other was delicious fun. It would have been nice to see him play the game without an America's vote or some kind of America's got power thingie which took him out both seasons. He will be an all star I would bet my britches on and I truly hope they allow him to just play the game.

I have seen Jessie in another atmosphere where he is just a normal guy. His video work for Strengthnet where he interacts with other gym mates just like you or I would. So I am convinced his over the top persona is something he knows he is doing. Even in the second season he was on there were moments you could see the man and not the persona.

This one's for you slipintothefog! There have been lots of crazy women on BB but Amber and Lydia are in a league of their own:

I liked Jessie too. It baffles me how people don't realize that his whole "I'm Captain Awesome" routine is clearly a joke. I think he is actually quite sensitive. I thought him and Lydia was sweet in a weird way. She new he was kidding and teased him. He was really upset that Chima exited the game. He really cared about her.

Every Big Brother player gets cocky when things are going according to their plans. It's just when it's someone you personally like (i.e. Dan) you don't mind their brand of cockiness.

I never got the Memphis love. His personality was so unmemorable. Ollie wasnt that forgettable. Sure he sucked at challenges but he provided more than his share of ignorant comments and conversations.

The only thing good about Jessie to me was when he voted against Natalie. Warms the cockles of my heart.

BB10 was one of my least favorite seasons. I definitely didn't like Dan. I had to look up who April and Michelle were. I liked Michelle actually once I realized who she was.

My favorite season was probably BB3 because I loved Jason and Danielle as a team. BB6 and BB7 are also up there.

I hated Jun for how she treated Jee (or whatever his name was) but I didn't watch that season as religiously as others because I was in college and it was harder for me to catch up on what I missed.

My favorite moment in BB history was that game in BB6 where Eric realized he was going to lose. It was like some weird game where you moved and stopped other people. Almost like human chess or something.
