its surprising that she chose to pull the video i mean she has always caused controversy but even she had a point where she knew she was about to go too far. for some anyway. and Marley, she may have not tread new ground but when has a star THAT big gotten involved in politics in such a big was. Their were always rockers and acoustic protest songs, but never pop protest.

Back the 80's she was seen as chubby. Anyway I was going to put this in my post above but since it has been quoted so here I go ranting again. Nearly no one in the music industry makes it without being sexually desirable to hold Madonna up and say that is the only reason she is popular is dumb considering the majority of people who buy her records are gay men and women. Does anyone ever call Ozzy out and say the only reason he made it was because he bite the head of a bat NO because he does rock music it’s the same as people calling Madonna out on her “shocking behavior”. Does anyone call Prince out on his overly sexual image NO. Madonna is a women in pop music and is constantly questioned because of it. Anyway marleyisalegend I am with you with your comment about the video.

It really seems to be more about Madonna trying to be current and making some money with a video. It seems pretty slick with production values for a protest song.

Thanks for posting the video, Iman. I had only seen the scrubbed version. While I agree that she is no Neil Young, I do think she took a big risk making the strong anti-war statement she did at a time when it was potentially career breaking for popstars to do so (remember what the Dixie Chicks and Linda Ronstadt went through?). I'm just sorry she ended up censoring herself. Sure it rings a little hollow that someone who built their career off of "blonde ambition" is questioning materialism, but it seems (to me at least) that a big part of the video's message is be how much Americans are living in an ideological bubble that insulates them from the nasty realities of the war. Sure she's still Madonna with all her trademark writhing and narcissism, but here at least it's writhing and narcissism with a dollop of social consciousness.

I think American Life was one of her most underrated releases just because of the tense politics of the time. Nowadays, of course, it's much more acceptable to criticize the war.

I love American Life. I don't really like "I'm So Stupid"...but the album is solid. "Nothing Fails", "X-Static Process", "Intervention", "Mother and Father", and "Love Profusion" are my favorites from the disc.
 
Madonna's Tour will be taped in New York!

Hello Boys,
Word is that Madonna's new "Sticky & Sweet Tour" will be recorded to DVD at her Madison Square Garden show on October 11th & 12th. Luckily enough I'll be there on the 11th. I can't wait!

I'm not really a big fan of Hard Candy.

I went to see the Confessions tour though and I was at the venue that was recorded. To be honest there was nothing different, just a few cameras sitting about. :wink:

Same with me, I Like Hard Candy, i dont love it, but its decent.

i wish i could of gotten tickets for her tour...maybe next time..

I think Devil should be the next single. it has a sound that could be a hit, but we all know miles away will be ignored just like give it to me.

Devil would be a cool but unlikely single pick. It would show that album has more/ somthing diffrent to offer. I think it would get some attention for that at the very least plus it's one of the only amazing songs on the album.
