Re: Madonna on Hydrangeas: Do Not Want

This story makes me love Madonna even more :)

I just hope that she will go on tour for the new album!!!!

I need to see this bitch live

Re: Madonna on Hydrangeas: Do Not Want

… he wasn't 'chasing after her', rather asking her about his flowers that was quite obvious that she had ditched. …
fair enough

I wonder if Miss Ciccione was speaking in a posh English accent because the others on the panel were also English?

I heard there's some kind of mental syndrome where you assume the characteristics of the person you're with.

About Madonna: Accents and Hydrangeas.

I've seen a lot of news about Madge's Hydrangea gaffe. Most of the comments, though, are about her "faux" English accent. First, let's get the flower issue put to rest. She was very kind and gracious to the fan who gave her the flowers. Yes, she should've been more aware of the mic, but until this all blew up on the internet and TV, the fan had no idea that she was unhappy regarging his choice of flower. The comment by her that, "he should have known", was ridiculous. Did anyone who is a staunch Madonna fan know of her hatred of Hydrangeas? It's not like it was out in the mainstream..(Photoshop pros, it would be hilarious to see a mock magazine cover detailing the above events..) That's all I have to say about that..

Moving on to the comments about her fake English accent. I am willing to give her the benefit of doubt, because of my experience, and the experiences of some of my friends that lived abroad.

Let's take Madonna first. she was born and raised in Michigan. The dialect in the Northern Lakes region tends to be European in nature. Scandanavian Immigrants that settled in that region, share a vaguely similar "British" dialect. The fact that Madonna lived in England for many years, her own regional dialect growing up, and her husband being British; her immersion in that culture most likely brought about her "British" accent.

So, how does this relate to me, the poster of this thread? I am Texan born, and spent most of my formative years growing up in the deep South. (TX, MS, GA, TN)
My family was re-located up North (Philadelphia) when I was starting Junior High. I was initially made fun of and bullied b/c of my Southern accent. People thought I was a stupid hick. I qucikly forced myself to talk like they did. It was successful. By the time I graduated High School, no one could've guessed my background. My accent only re-appears when A: I'm back down south, B: drinking too much, & C: when I'm really angry.

Re: About Madonna: Accents and Hydrangeas.

I mentioned in the other thread that some people take on the accents of the people they're with

Re: About Madonna: Accents and Hydrangeas.

Madonna ? I'll be back in a minute after i google her and find out who the hell she is, i bet she's some famous actress or something.

I agree, she is becoming more irrelevant these days, but she did blaze a path for today's pop-tarts. I give her the due respect.. Don' mak' me go southurn' an y'all!

Re: Madonna on Hydrangeas: Do Not Want

She was being true to herself.
The least i could say about certain celebs (eg gaga)

Re: About Madonna: Accents and Hydrangeas.

Yet, here you are creating a thread about her. She must have done something right. :D

As a child of the 80's, I will always have an interest in what she's up to..I was just surprised about all the attention she has recieved regarding the "Hydrangea Incident", and the following "Accent" nonsense..It saddens me to see how young people see her today. She was quite the "shit" in her day! I know that makes me out to be an old *uck, but she truly was a trailblazer, and for that, she does deserve some respect. Any 80's Gays care to back me up on this? I will call you out, you know.. :D

Re: About Madonna: Accents and Hydrangeas.

I just wish she'd get back to doing decent music, and stay there. Hopefully the new material she releases next year will piss all over the young pretender GaGa! :)

Did they use language like that in her day?

But, anyway, I don't understand WHY she thinks she has anything new or unique to offer to say about Mrs Wallis Simpson. We have already seen TEN, yes ten, versions of Mrs Wallis Simpson's story.

It sounds a little like Egomania.

Of course she's an Egomaniac! Poor thing, she's such a sad sack nowadays, she needs the publicity. As much as I admire her, and her accomplishments, maybe it's time for her to fade out gracefully. I've seen the horrible reviews of that film. But can you at least agree that when she was hot, she was hot? I heard "Borderline" on the radio at work today...Got me thinkin' bout her..

Re: Madonna on Hydrangeas: Do Not Want

What I don't get is why is everyone making such a big deal over flowers? Its not she didn't do it on purpose. #-o
