Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

I'm really worried about this new album. Seems she's trying too hard to stay current with too many "hip" producers.

Afraid it's going to be a big flop. Not Kylie sized proportions, but Gaga sized.

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

I admit that I also have my...doubts about the upcoming album.

I love her to death, but if she's still on this "let me try to keep up with what's on the radio right now" bullshit...I am DONE. :dead:

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

Good luck Madge.

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

She's got a point though, I've never had more harassment online then from Madonna fans. God forbid a person like any other artist than "The Queen". It's fucking creepy.

I don't know looking at comments on youtube videos and personal instagram accounts of both (not even going to mention twitter) it seems like there is a lot more hate coming from Gaga fans. I like them both but it is quite obvious that most of the venom are coming from Gaga fans and it's not just Madonna and her fans they're after. It seems like everyone is the enemy if you're a monster. Really weird but whatevs...I like them both I just wont admit in public. lol

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

Little Monsters can be really snotty and delusional when it comes to their Mother Monster, especially when the topic is Gaga vs. any other diva, but some of Madonna's fans honestly can be awful to Gaga too. I love Madonna much, much more but Lady Gaga really has not done much to Madonna or vice versa. It's all the crazy fan wars that make things so heated.

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

The ONLY album I've never bothered to purchase from Madonna after hearing it at the store was MDNA. Those lyrics, that naff synth pop baseline and the whole juvenile feel to it just made me cringe. If she can produce a kind of Ray of Light Part II then I'm all for it - but if it's another "I just gotta keep up with those kids" feel then I'm sorry. I'm out.

"give me all your love AND give me your love.Give me all your love todaaaaay". Are you freakin' kidding me?

Why the world needs a brilliant new Madonna album

Lifelong Madonna fan Darren Hayes explains why the world needs an amazing new album from the Queen of Pop…

The woman who has always been above social media has been having a torrid affair with it of late. 2014 shall forever be known by this fan as the year the Material Girl embraced Instagram and treated us to everything from gratuitous boob selfies to her homage to hairy underarms. And I’ve loved it. Through her iPhone Madonna let us behind the platinum curtain – even inside her very posh Upper East Side Manhattan master bathroom to witness everything form her post work-out beads of sweat to her son David Banda on guitar.

Yet of most fascination has been the cheeky way she has beckoned us inside the recording studio. The Queen of Pop has been teasing the world with progress of her as-yet-untitled (unless it’s called Unapologetic Bitch – and Lord don’t I hope so!) 13th studio album.

The list of potential collaborators is so far impressive: Sky Ferreira/Haim producer Ariel Rechtshaid, Wrecking Ball co-writer MoZella, MIA collaborator Diplo, DJ/producer Avicii, former Lady Gaga collaborator Martin Kierszenbaum, pop singer Natalia Kills, US hit-maker Toby Gad.

The imagery teased out recently is also exciting: Homage to Betty Page, mysterious veils and religious imagery? Check. But there’s also some cause for concern. Why? Because Madonna seems so close to getting it right. And we all know what happens when Madonna gets it slightly wrong. Two words: Hard Candy.

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread - 2014 edition

While Madonna makes really consistent records and her worst is above average work nonetheless. I thought Chris Ciccone nailed what was wrong with Hard Candy when he said that instead of letting the producers work in Madonna's world, Madonna went into JT/Tim's instead.

I'd disagree. Madonna doesn't have a consistent sound. I'd go so far as to say she is one of THE MOST inconsistent recording artists out there. Her sound has changed so much over the years, along with her style, hence the tongue in cheek "Reinvention Tour".

She is consistent at that. Reinvention. But now that's a double edged sword as we've seen...and unfortunately heard.

Oh by consistent I meant the sound that she embraces in a particular record is committed to throughout the record ( eg the house/club feel of erotica album, the rnb/hiphop of bedtime stories except the title track; the edm of ray of light, the techno-acoustic amalgam of american life, the 70s-80s retro feel of coadf). the sound that she inhabits in a particular album is committed to and comes out consistent and even.

Love all the poll selections, but I'm going to have to go with "Rain" or "I'll Remember".

Re: Favorite Madonna song?

Oh Father. One of Madonna's most personal songs and one of her most artistic videos. It's amazing to me that Madonna had the balls to put out this song as a single and even more amazing that she was so huge in 1989 that it went top 20 on her name alone and was considered a "flop."
