I guess it doesn't surprise me. Usually, a month before an album comes out by someone as huge as Mariah, you'll hear the debut single all over radio, her image on every magazine, etc etc. I've only heard vague mumblings about her new stuff. Did promotions drop the ball, or was it just not ready to start? My guess is the latter.

February's such a strange choice, though. November is of course, the prime choice by all music artists to get a new album out since it can benefit from the upcoming 12-month calendar and of course, the holidays sales surge.
But May is usually the second-best month for a big artist like Carey to drop a new CD so I'm kinda shocked she didn't chose May.
I know Madonna's new opus was changed from November as well. I'm not sure what to, though ... February? May?

February is basically the first month available after November. December is tied up with Christmas/holiday sales, and they'll need at least one month to gear up for promotional activity - that'll be January. So February is the earliest you'd want to put something out that requires a good promotional push. There's no really good reason to wait for May unless it's not ready in February.

I was on Mariah's Vh1 board and someone said that they heard the new Mariah album is supposed to be really hot and will be better than The Emancipation. I know this only hear say but I hope it's true.

I know that the rumor on the Madonna album is that it was bad and got sent back for retooling and to have half of it ditched and reaplaced with new material... any reason on the Mariah album?

I'm neither dissing nor fronting here. (Wow, I'm so street.) I'm just saying that it's doubtful any PR group would be overwhelmed. It's possible that they simply decided to push the album back to coincide with the movie - synergy and all that. But I find it hard to believe that Mariah had an album in the can ready to be released, and four or five weeks before street date, radio stations and music video outlets didn't have a single to play. For pop/R&B stars, that's just a matter of course. I'm guessing that the answer is just more prosaic - to wit, the album ain't done. Or they don't think they have a strong enough single, and so they're heading back to the studio or handing off an existing track to make it more "radio-friendly".

It might be a good thing. It doesn't feel like the right time for that CD to come out. I think the new year would be better. Plus Whitney's CD is coming in 2008. Her and Clive are putting the finishing touches on it. I love both of these woman. I wish both of them much success with there projects.

I think it's not funny at all. She is beautiful no matter she's thin or fat.
I think before you trash talk you have to see your self at the mirror and laugh whatever u want bcoz you're so freakin ugly! Geez!
There's a big difference between people who knows music and people who just hear music because their friends do.
Ask any singing teacher and u'll see how amazing mariah is.

And that garbage about how Mariah Carey is a trained opera singer (she's not) can end here. Yes, she does those squeak tones very well. I personally think it's like nails on a chalk board, but it's not easy to do and plenty of people like it.
It's not about the ability for me, actually... I'm not really a fan because I think she does WAY to much vocal acrobatics. Her songs stopped being songs after maybe the third album and now theyr'e just a rhythm track with her belting out "wowowo... ooooo.... honey honey... SWEEEEEEET SWEEEEEET... Huhuhuhuh..... AAAHHHHHHH!!!" over the top of it. Some people like that.. it annoys me.
