I love Mariah and her extensive use of the Whistle Register, especially in songs like Emotions, Vision of Love, and her recent Fly Like a Bird tracks. However, my favorite songs, coincidentally, have been ones where she has not used it like Always Be My Baby and I Still Believe (which is not on the list).

All of those listed except for Honey, My All and Heartbreaker. I loved all the singles when she was pretending to be someone that she wasn't. The thing is I didn't realize it back then that she was being phony, I was fooled, .

Well, many people in the public eye, especially the entertainment industry, are not who they present themselves to be publicly. Besides, her husband, Tommy Mottola (sp??) had such major control over her; it was not like she really had a choice.

You know, these aren't the slave days, so she still had a choice. I don't think "image" is imposed on a recording contract, so she could've said, "Look, I'll fulfill the number of albums that I have to do under the contract, but I'll be me". But she didn't do that, she chose to act like someone she wasn't.

And anyway, I don't feel sorry for her because she was romantically involved with Tommy Mottola who was still married to a woman for 19 years (and have two kids together). Granted, in a recent Playboy interview Mariah said that she didn't know he was married, but I couldn't believe that because doesn't a man go back home to see his wife and kids after work, how could Mariah not know he was married?

You are right in that she had a choice. She could have chosen to be herself, and get dropped or she could have played into the image and had a career. It was not like she had been around long enough to be established; frankly, she was the new girl on the block.

Well, I have no clue if Mariah knew whether or not Tommy was married, but in an industry like the Music Industry, it's highly plausible. It's not like the people who work in the industry are doing 9-5 jobs, or jobs where there is a definitive schedule everyday.

Naturally, Mariah has the best overall vocal abilities; she has a unique voice. However, I do not believe that she is the best as a singer. In her prime, I would have given that to Whitney Houston as she was able to emote much better than Mariah.

Currently, I would have to say Alicia Keys. Her personality, her voice, and her ability to sing live makes her one of the best singers today.
