I LOVE her personality and her sarcasm, she is one of the most down to earth people and folks who REALLY know her will tell you that. She just likes to PRETEND to be a DIVA because she knows everybody talks shit about her, I know this because my aunt is in public relations and has meet Mariah many times over recent years and spent time with her privately.
She is actually quite funny but is very insecure. She does NOT think highly of herself, she is very big hearted and has no interest in the whole "celebrity" bullshit game. She hangs out with real people and is NOT a diva as she likes to portray herself, she simply does it because she is giving the press and public what they expect from her. Shes a good person.

Geez u guys are dissing on Mariah way too much. I totally agree with MikeRye. If any of you have heard her interviews you would know that she has a great sense of humor. She knows how much crap people talk on her, she thinks it's silly that people spend so much negative energy on her. She dresses up because she likes to have fun. She sees fame as a silly joke, people take it way too seriously. Regardless she still has one of the most amazing voices, and if someone as corny as Celine Dion can come out with perfume, then why shouldn't Mariah?

What I don't understand is why the people who hate Mariah constantly feel the need to flock to a forum thread about her to make that known. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having a different opinion. But when people continue to do this every time there's a thread about her, it gets annoying after a while. If you guys don't like her, then go participate in another part of the forum. In fact, create an "I Hate Mariah" thread so the fans can know to stay away. But have some respect for the people who do like her.

Well, eight million people were convinced to shell out for her last album (OK, six million - the last two million were people who bought it again when they put out the "deluxe version" with bonus tracks). They can't ALL be men. Even if only one in six is female, that's still a potential fanbase of a million women - not insignificant.

I think she's a tired, skany, over-rated ditch-pig who, instead of singing, chooses to sheik in that shrill buzzing tone reminiscent of a cicada in heat.

I don't think she's turned out a "song" worth hearing in about 15 years.

I think she comes across as a slut in interviews and she's starting to dress like those creepy Soccer moms in stretch pants and halter tops you see on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills who wear too much line concealer.

LOVE HER!!!! Been a fan since day number 1. Her last album was her biggest selling record, and puts her next to elvis... one more #1 and she'll be the best selling artist of all time! Love her or hate her, thats amazing! Her "shrill" or "shriek" as people call it is also known as "operatic" to those who really listen to music. I also had a co-worker that said..."I don't like her now that shes acting black". First of all, that statement alone sends chills down my spine, and second of all, I was like... "She IS black!". I think that sums it up... you know, Brit and X-tina were slutty from the get-go... and that was ok. Mariah for some reason gets shit because she evolved from gospel to R&B...(the natural evolution of gospel music actually.)
Also, I have to say, she gives back SO much! Thats more than I can say for most artists today!
If you have followed her, you love her... if you just watch MTV and Entertainment Tonight... well...
