Mariah (and her label) have quite oft in the past proven willing to take some financial hits in order to move up the charts. It got to the point that I didn't recognize my local record merchant if it didn't have a little display up at the front counter with Mariah's latest CD single on sale for $1.99.
I don't recall if Janet ever consented to the same (given the number of #1 singles from Rhythm Nation, it wouldn't surprise me) but Mariah certainly seemed to be the reigning champ.
Expect this song to be "single of the week" on iTunes fairly soon.

There will always be people that love Mariah and always people that love to hate on her. I happen to really like the new song. I agree it's not the best song I've ever heard from her but the tune is very catchy to me. It's just a fun cool groove. Honestly, I've listened to it probably 30 or 35 times today. I love it and love Mariah!

MIMI will have her 18th #1.. it's allready getting good airplay. She is so good she puts J Jackson's album to shame, and it's not even released. Mariah does a good job putting Madonna n Janet to shame. It's just too bad Janet has to release her album so close to Mariah's, becuase it will just be another repeat of last album release. You were warned Madonna, step off Bitch. Just so sad fans of Madonna and Janet can't face the truth. If Mariah can beat out Celine Dion as the best selling female artist of all time, that just makes celine, madonna, and janet fans furious. It's okay you guys, if you want to vent and diss Mariah if it makes you feel better, thats fine, but I will always know the truth. Call mariah fat( even though she was on the front cover of playboy,) tell mariah she can't sing ( even though she writes her own songs, by the way madonna ,celine and janet, and whitney do not. Even Randy Jackson announed that on cnn. And mariah has more # one singles on the billboard than any female artist, and has spent number one than any female artist on the billboard charts, go ahead and diss. It's just the insacurity of Mariah being the most successful female artist. ) It just comes down to Mariah. Like Ryan Seacrest said on American Idol, She is a tough artist to sing to, and most of all, she is a tough artist to beat. When you meet your dream, write you own music, express your self in your own lyrics (unlike madonna, whitney, or janet) you will become the most succesful, selling, and talented singer off all time. I Love Mariah, BUT Madonna Writes just as many of her songs as Mariah does. Plus Mariah Has Used So many Samples in her songs, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey, Heartbreaker, and Loverboy, Are all based around Samples, So dont bring Madonna into this, Madonna is Almost Always the head writer on all of her songs that Matter, yeah She Didnt Write Any Songs On "Like A Virgin", but that has become my least favorite album because of that, I dont know where you are getting your facts from, but you better Double Check! I Absolutely Love Mariah, there is no doubt in my mind, and im sure Her new Song Will be A Major Hit, but Madonna Will Always Be The QUeen!

Since I've been at JUB forums for quite a few years now, I've noticed your continuous passion for Mariah even when people try to knock you down. It's cute and admirable.
Anyway, I haven't heard her new single just yet but I can't wait. I have to admit, I used to be a big Mariah as well until the the Glitter/Charmbracelet stuff. But the 'Emancipation of Mimi' was shockingly good. Hope she rebounds, win some Grammys and stay away from movies.

Well actually she's been doin' hip hop since 1995 when the remix of "Fantasy" came out featuring ODB and Sean Combs (when he was known as Puff Daddy and Sean "Puffy" Combs at the time).
It seems that 1997 was the year when the big diva started to act more like herself, even in interviews.

an immediate guess that people have been saying is Tricky Stewart because he works ALOT with The Dream
but what most people don't know is that half of The Dream's album was produced by someone named Mystro
[J.Holiday "Bed" was written by The Dream and produced by Mystro,
while J.Holiday "Suffocate" was written by The Dream and produced by Tricky Stewart]
Mystro produced The Dream's "Shawty is Da Sh!t"
and since this Mariah song sounds like THAT,
my guess is that Mystro produced this...
