Love me some Mariah. The girl can sing so damn well and writes and produces her stuff! Which is rare.
I think she has kinda slipped since like 1999. She's lipsynching more and her stuff is just too hip hop for me sometimes.
But I still love her. She's still my favorite singer.

I love Mariah. I wouldn't say she's perfect, but I do love her. Besides Janet, she's my favorite singer. And she's a close second.
I don't like the way she dresses (except in the "Butterfly" era where her wardrobe and body was on point). And I don't like her chart manipulations. But other than that she's great.
I know people always bitch about how she's formulaic etc. etc. etc. Which is true to an extent. But fuck it. A lot of other artists are, and they don't get flack. She has tons of songs. And still has a very good voice. I've seen her in concert 3x, and she was great, and she's really funny.

I've never met Mariah nor have I ever seen her in person, but I must say, looking back on Mariah the first six years of her career, that whole "girl-next-door" attitude was definitely too good to be true, only that I didn't realize it was just a phony facade back then, I thought that was the way she really was. Mariah is a really good actress because she got me fooled and I'm not one who tends to get fooled.
I don't wish Mariah to be dead, but I've always hoped that she'd just quietly retire. Since "Butterfly" came out, Mariah seems annoying as heck to me and I think if she started her career behaving like that way back in 1990, I don't think it would've taken off. There was something breathtaking and mesmerizing about "girl-next-door" Mariah, but then again, that wasn't the real Mariah, right? LOL.

I'm a fan. I'm not a fanatic, but I'm a fan nonetheless. I tend to think her older stuff is better than her newer more hip hop influenced stuff, but she's not bad. As a person, I don't know. She seems like a diva, but a nice one in the sense that she's sort of in on the joke in terms of her image. I haven't heard many stories of her being a bitch to people, and she seems like a nice, fun woman whenever I've seen her in interviews.
