She is going to be on Idol tonight. The theme isn't necessarily "Mariah Carey" music, its supposed to more of a favorite song kinda night with Mariah's coaching. I understand at least 2 contestants are going to sing Mariah's songs.

It's next week, but the theme hasn't been disclosed yet. Rumor has it that it'll be #1 Mariah hits.

Looks like Mariah's single will manage to eek out another week at #1 thanks to her massive airplay numbers. Leona is hot on her tails, though, and looks to replace her next week.

I so have you beat! =oP I own all studio albums plus unplugged, import versions of those albums, all of her singles including foreign imports and radio promotional CDs (the only singles I do not have are the ones before I'll Be There, excluding Someday and Vision of Love.). I also own all of her tour dvds, television concerts and specials, taped appearances on television shows such as Oprah, GMA, Today, MTV, VH1, as well as 32 posters of all sizes AAAAAND several t-shirts including the Honey B Fly member shirt. *takes breath*

So I've heard the cd. And I don't really like it. I mean, there were about 4 or 5 great songs but the rest were really bad. This is the first Mariah cd where I skipped most of the tracks!

This cd is no 'Musicbox' or 'Daydream'. Easily her worst cd yet.

No. I've only been able to see her ONCE in concert in Tampa during her TAOM tour, but other than that. I'd love to meet her just once to tell her the impact she's had on my life. But no, not a stalker lol. Just love her! And you know how people collect a bunch of one specific thing? My collection just happens to be of Mariah stuff!

Dude, have you heard I Stay In Love? I hope that's gonna be a single. The only problem I have with it is people keep hearing "and I try to fart like a whale each time you let me down..." lol but it's "I try to front like 'oh well'"....problem is if the FANS are thinkin it, you KNOW other people are gonna be like WTF? But its one of my faves from the new record. 'O.O.C.', 'Bye Bye', 'I Wish You Well' of others are also awesome!

Really? I skipped a lot of the Emancipation of Mimi tracks. I haven't had to skip but one track on the new album, and that was 'Love Story.'

And as Danno said, you can't compare. The styles of music have changed, her voice has changed. This is actually a GREAT album. I was surprised because I was expecting a clone of TEOM. And it wasn't. I thought a lot of Daydream and Music Box sucked compared to her more recent.

i agree for the most part...give love story another try though...or a few more. it's a decent song.

as for singles, i think this should be the order after touch my body and bye bye:

migrate...maybe not a number one single (more like top ten), but it's edgy and a good follow-up to bye bye...will do great (number one) on urban radio

i'm that chick...might go to number one, but more of a top five single. if released, it needs a harder beat for radio

i stay in love...risky single, but great ballad...highlight of the album for me! my prediction is that it will either go number one or get stuck in the 50s

i'll be lovin' u long time...fun song to end the album with...top ten single at the least

sorry, but bye bye is already out and i think it's a smart second single, even if it's not one of my favorites (great first verse though). to me, releasing it as the last single would have been a bit strange. i think the last single from an album should be lighter...that's why i picked lovin' u long time as the final single

...i won't be surprised if all of these go number one! six singles according to l.a. reid, so if all these go number one, including bye bye (and with touch my body already number one), there goes 23 number ones!!!

I'm not comparing them. I'm just saying that I think her older stuff is sooo much better than her new stuff. I still love the girl but it's clear that her voice has really suffered.

And most of her songs are exactly the same now. She'll whisper through the first half and build up to a high finish.

I felt like this album lacked a focus on the voice. TEOM had great vocals. This one doesn't.

yeah, the history line...haha.

that chick WOULD be a risky song to put out. it's different. that's why i said it would need a harder beat to have a chance at radio. i could be wrong though.

before TEOM came out, music people were saying that say somethin' was going to be the first single. i listened to it when it first leaked and i liked it, but i didn't think it was a smart first single, especially for a "comeback"...not really a smart single period. then, when they actually released it as the final single, i wasn't too happy because i had a strong feeling it wouldn't do well, even though it was my favorite track off that album for some time. sure enough, it stalled at #79 cuz radio didn't wanna play it since it was supposed to be a single a long time ago.

it also was supposed to be the single after we belong together, but they replaced it with shake it off, a song that, to my surprise, did well.

with all that said, i think established artists like mariah shouldn't worry too much about hits...they should just put out songs that they like...i think that's what happened with say somethin'. not great for radio, but a great song.
