I'm not comparing them. I'm just saying that I think her older stuff is sooo much better than her new stuff. I still love the girl but it's clear that her voice has really suffered.

And most of her songs are exactly the same now. She'll whisper through the first half and build up to a high finish.

I felt like this album lacked a focus on the voice. TEOM had great vocals. This one doesn't.

i agree with you...too much whispering nowadays. in can't let go, one of her best songs, she has a controlled breathy tone. now the breathiness is out of control (no...i didn't say that because of her song o.o.c!). and yes, she wails at the end of many of the songs...reminds me of what she did on we belong together, though her vocals were decent on that song.

Why in the world is she releasing Bye, Bye as her second single? I guess she'll be performing it on Oprah next week too.

There are only two songs on the album I don't like and that's Love Story and I Wish You Well. Love Story is the most bland track on the album. I really like Loving You Long Time, Cruise Control, Migrate, Thanx 4 Nothing, I'm That Chick, and O.O.C.

Yeah I kind of know what you mean. Bye Bye is okay to me. But it makes sense. Its the only big ballad that is somewhat equivalent to TEOM's We Belong Together. & she keeps saying how the lyrics are universal. So if its relatable then she must think it will be a hit right?

Then i think the next single will be Migrate = Shake it off. For the Record = Dont Forget About Us. Then, Im That Chick = Say Somethin. But who knows, i really think Lovin U Long Time should be a single. Or she might come out with some new stuff, like with Dont Forget About Us.

She did do a lot of her breathy tones this album, but the good thing is that you can understand them, unlike the entire Charmbracelet album lol.

If she releases "For The Record," that would be a big mistake. "I Stay In Love," to me, is the album's "We Belong Together." Man...the thing about this album is that every damn song could be a single so it sucks trying to figure out what shes gonna release lol

I agree I Stay in Love is like We Belong. I love it though. "Bye Bye" should be like a 6th single. This is gonna be her beginning of summer track? Is she smoking crack?

Mariah On Idol

OK so I knew that she was mentoring on American Idol this week. What I did not know was that the contestants are performing HER SONGS!? They are always telling the contestants to not even attempt Mariah/whitney/celine songs unless they can make it their own or do it better. That’s like the no. 1 rule. That makes no sense, theyre so contradictory, now they must sing her songs. They all about to f up her songs!lol

It will be weird to hear them perform her songs, nobody ever covers her. But I think it will look something like this:

David archuleta = ill be there
Carly = without you
Brooke = cant let go, never forget you? (I don’t know. I can imagine her doing any song and making it slower & playing the piano lol)
David cook = against all odds
Syesha = hero, through the rain (something with a soul/urban feel)
Kristy = always be my baby, emotions (something pop/upbeat)
Jason = I have no clue…breakdown??lol

what songs can they choose from? Only singles? If not, then all of my predictions are probably wrong! & shes performing bye bye, right? I think she should also sing an old song for a change.

What do you guys think about this week on idol & the songs?

hmm i forgot to mention 4real4real & heat. yeah no wonder why they were cut.

they arent the worst, they have their ok points. i might listen to them when i bored or something lol.

4real4real is just weird. & heat is okay, its playful, it reminds me of a london bridges type nursery rhyme. damn just when i thought her lyrics on the other new songs are bad, these lyrics actually make the others seem great lol.

i can imagine it, that will be so corny. & he will he all smiles like a little girl exclaiming over how he met mariah carey.

or i wouldnt be surprised if they save hero for like a group medley. or one sweet day, when you believe, thank god i found you, those type of songs.

She was very bad on Idol gives back, not as horrible as her SNL performance a couple weeks back; but it was still very bad.

She cant sing live anymore.

I wouldn't say she was horrible. She hit some bum notes but she was pretty much on. Still it wasn't as good as the Grammy performance of 'Fly Like a Bird' which was flawless!

But I'm really excited this week. I just hope Syesha doesn't try any of those whistle notes.

Syesha can hit a whistle note. She's done it before live and recorded. In fact she added like 12 whistle notes to the recorded version of 'I Believe'.

I just want her to add more of herself in the song. Attempting whistle is like 'Her look at me..I'm trying to be Mariah' instead of 'This is Mariah's song but I'm doing it the Syesha way'.

That being said I want her to do 'My All' or 'Butterfly'.
