Lovin' You Long Time and Cruise Control have to be singles. Everything else is 'single worthy' but these two songs are the highlights of the album for me.

hmm i forgot to mention 4real4real & heat. yeah no wonder why they were cut.

they arent the worst, they have their ok points. i might listen to them when i bored or something lol.

4real4real is just weird. & heat is okay, its playful, it reminds me of a london bridges type nursery rhyme. damn just when i thought her lyrics on the other new songs are bad, these lyrics actually make the others seem great lol.

They're definitely on my list of Mariah songs I coulda done without LOL but theyre not BAD...theyre just not....good. ?...k anywho

Finally gave the CD a listen, just about the time everybody else got totally over it.

I'm surprised. It's a pretty good album. Certainly no real stinkers on there. And several quite nice ones. It's perhaps the perfect snapshot of "the state of R&B circa 2008".

Quibbles:

* Honestly, no song REALLY jumped out at me. Even the ones I liked were sort of "yeah, that one's pretty good."

* The "guest stars" were utterly unnecessary. Yes, I know "that's what you do in this decade", but nobody really added anything to the songs. Mariah could've gone it alone on all of them.

* There's very little Mariah to it. Much of it could be Rihanna or Janet or (your fave R&B female singer here). And the overuse of ProTooling is especially unnerving for someone who we know (at one point, anyway) had a great voice. It removes a lot of personality from the voice and makes her sound like "anywoman". Occasionally, I'd hear a little run or catch in her voice that reminded me, yes, this is Mariah Carey, but they were surprisingly rare.

It isn't until the last two songs that she started sounding more like herself. I'm not crazy about either of the songs, but they were clearly by HER. I was being happy that she didn't try any multi-octave trilling, since it's obvious she can't quite pull it off anymore...and then she gave it a go in the last song. And I really wish she hadn't. It just reminded me that she can't.

I bought the album today yay! Gotta love Best Buy for selling it at $9.99 LOL......

Migrate--Killer production from the amazing Danja! Love her intro vocals.

Touch My Body--we all know this song.....

Cruise Control--great Dupri production. LOVE Damian Marley!

I Stay In Love--not bad. Sounds very Janet-y

Side Effects--LOVE this song! Killer chorus! Good to see Scott Storch back.

I'm That Chick--I actually like the song a lot! I love anything by Stargate.

Love Story--it's okay. Nothing spectacular.

Lovin U Long Time--great laid back song to play this summer haha.

Last Kiss--it'll grow on me. For now, it's just ok....

Thanx 4 Nothin--blah blah. Another JD track. Forgettable. (It'll grow on me too I'm sure...)

O.O.C.--LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Swizz Beatz killed this song!!! Mariah's voice is so super smooth and the chorus is catchy as hell. One of the best songs on the album!!

For The Record--BEST SLOW SONG ON THE ALBUM!! Bryan Cox is amazing--period.

Bye Bye--wow, I really don't like this song. Which sucks--I really wanted to like it.

Wish You Well--okay closer. The song isn't bad. Gotta get out that Tommy Mottolla aggression...

Overall, Emancipation was a WAAAAAAAYYYY better album.

Best songs on the album: Migrate, Side Effects, That Chick, O.O.C., For The Record

More than likely, she's going to surpass the Beatles' record of #1 songs with this album.

I can't say enough how excited I am for this night! I've been waiting for some Idol show somewhere to do a Mariah night since I started watching Am Idol 1!

I bought the album as soon as it came out in England! Love it so far, and i kno in a week or so it'll be the best thing in my life!
Favourite songs are Migrate, Ill be lovin u long time, for the record, bye bye and i wish you well.
i wish you well is becoming my favourite mariah song of all time - i can't stop listening to it, the way her voice soars above the choir in the last verse is incredible! it kind of reminds me of a mixture between sunflowers for alfred roy and fly like a bird, two songs which i loved in the past.
can't wait til she releases more singles, i don't really mind which ones - all are great songs (except i dont really like o.o.c...)

For the Record is pretty mind-blowing. She hit some crazy whistle notes in the end.

Migrate has a very nice vibe to it. I love listening to it.

Touch My Body has sexy humor to it, fun song.

I'll Be Loving You Long Time is so catchy.



ADD: Ok I just listened to I Wish You Well. Hands down, most emotional, powerful, uplifting song in this album. It's kinda like My Saving Grace but deeper and her voice is far more "whole".
