The Official Marvel Vs Capcom 3 thread

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster

I've been told that a lot of characters will be DLC (downloadable content) and it makes more sense to be popular, sexy characters like Gambit, Rogue, etc. as DLC because they will sell more than losers like MODUK and Arthur, so it does make sense that they included the rejects in the main roster.

I just can't see them having more than 10 characters as DLC because it would defeat the purpose of making a sequal if they just kept giving us more characters every month.

Shuma Gorath, who I've always had a soft spot for, is DLC. That sexy bitch.

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster

I like trapping and playing the field actually. This is why I liked Spiral from MvC2 but I would never pick him just because he's an ugly piece of shit.

How does She-Hulk play? Is she a lot faster than Hulk?

I guess Shuma Gorath is more aesthetically appealing to you than M.O.D.O.K., but anyway I have not had much time to play She-Hulk, but she is a nice alternative to Hulk. When she and X-23 were first announced, I was not too happy, but they are completely different than their male counterparts.

She-Hulk is faster and she is great for people who are extremely defensive, in terms of blocking excessively.

There are only four characters who have officially been announced for DLC. There are only eight extra DLCs, so it looks as if the grand total will be 44 characters total, which isn't bad. Honestly, some of the characters in MVC2 were excessive...how many people really played with Servebot or both versions of Wolverine?

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster

Well I just bought the game and I'm not happy.

Call me a negative Nancy but everything is too fucking colorful and bright. Capcom should stick with 2-D graphics. Maybe they can make them 2-D but still a nice presentation like how SF3 was but this cell shaded crap is just ugly. The new control scheme sucks. I much preferred MvC2's control scheme. The new one defenetely throws you off if you're used to the old style and is going to take a lot of getting used to, which I don't really feel like investing the time in. I didn't see what was the need to change it because I don't see how it improved the gameplay at all.

I hate how every move or strike now makes your character say a line. Like if you just hit hard punch they'll say something like "have some of this!" or "do you like THAT?!" It's not charming. It's cheesy. Everything seems Americanized too. Like, Chun-Li sounds like an American shell of what she used to be. She speaks perfect english and sounds nothing like the Chun-Li from previous games. All the Marvel characters all have new voices too and they sound generic compared to MvC 2 where they actually got the real voice actors from the cartoons to do the voices.

I've already expressed my views on the roster but even the familiar characters like Storm and Wolverine don't play the same due to the new control scheme, so you can't just pick them and know what you're doing.

Bleh... give me my 65$ back and I'll just stick with MvC 2. It was much better than this.

Well, I agree with you: I can't stand how this game is constantly LOUD, ANNOYING AND IN YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!1one. The English voice acting is terrible, and they never shut up.

The environments are distracting, most of the 3D "sprites" are ugly and the audio gives me a headache. All of the gameplay videos i've seen have just been a mess, and I can't imagine playing this game as long as i've been playing MvC2.

And if you want to be a game company and nickle-and-dime me for downloadable characters? Go fuck yourself.

Sultan: Your Dreamcast or mine?

I don't understand your question about dreamcast?

I really just hate how there is now a "launch" button for air combos. It's like they tried to dumb down the control scheme but made it twice as complicated and I don't have the patience to get used to it.

I like MvC 2 better to be honest.

I got the game yesterday and am absolutely LOVING it!

It may have to do with the fact that I never played the earlier VS games. This is my very first one. YAY!

I am having loads of fun, won my first online match and amassing plenty of trophies.

Not too familiar with online play - but how do I hook in with a player so I can get the specific trophies like "Fate of Two World" where I need to play a certain set of characters, and they need to play a certain set of characters? Hope that's not too dense a question.

Ok... as a fan of anything and everything X-Men.. I have to say that when you play Deadpool vs Magneto as your starters Deadpool actually says "X-Men, Welcome to die!" in a menacing voice as a slight homage to the original X-Men arcade game and it tickled me.

Here's the clip.
My mistake he says "Magneto, Welcome to die!"

Here's the original that Deadpool is spoofing

A lot of people online who play as Sentinel are total cunts. He's still very, very cheap. Magento is as well.

This game is still very addicting but has gotten quite frustrating sometimes.

Same here. I haven't purchased games in years nor played any on my PS3, I've mainly used mine for blu-ray. The more I read and saw of MvC3 I just had to purchase and so glad I did. I'm loving this game and makes me want to purchase others in the series.

I've had this game for about 2 weeks and I just found out what the "simple" option was. Now all I have to is just repeatedly push one-two buttons, lol. I'm sure many have objected but I think it's good training especially for those, like myself, who aren't use to the rapid fire game play.

Really wish I hadn't fucked up my Gamefly membership. Totally regretting laying down the $60. Not HATING the game, but it's not rocking my world yet either. The roster's a biiiiig disappointment, and the gameplay's a little too hectic. Seriously, I usually don't know WHAT the fuck's going on during the match...especially when using the same character as your opponent.

Plus, Galactus is a fuckin' asshole:mad:

Galactus? Hah! I think he's one of the easiest bosses in this series. He only has two moves that are a major concern (the grab and the full screen, multi-direction lasers). Other than that, he's rather easy. I think Onslaught or Apocalypse gave me more trouble as final bosses than him.

Maybe I'll get used to it. Til then, I'm back on SSF4 as I wait for Street Fighter x Tekken. Or actually Mortal Kombat.
