The Official "Shelter" Movie Thread! [merged]

Re: The Men of "Shelter"!

I Loooove this movie.

It's nice to see a gay movie that doesn't end up with a freaking tragedy.

Brad is so sexy and Trevor is yummy....!oops!

*SPOILER*

I agree, it has a great ending. I even felt sorry for that pain-in-the-ass sister.
I hated to see her end up with that knuckle dragging, breeder, loser of a boy friend. But, she musta been in love, to give up being with her son that that loser, who obviously was not going to be a good influence on the kid.
Probably abusive to both of them.

Boys!
Someone posted the entire Movie on Youtube! Just enter 'Shelter 1 of 9'. Enjoy!

Downloaded it and saw it yesterday with my boyfriend.

Pretty well-done, I must say. And I'm still thinking about the ending, which is a good thing. Definitely memorable, I would say. Also really happy there were few, if not any, cliches in this gay-themed film.

For those of you that have seen the movie. When Zach and Tori are sitting near the end of the movie and he tells her that he made it into Cal-Arts, he also states that he needs to tell her something and she replies that she already knew. My question. How did she find out? Did she just put two and two together or did Gabe or Shaun tell her? She asks Zach if he loves him which leads me to believe that she was told about Zach and Shaun.

I think she just always knew. A lot of girls who have dated gay guys know but they are denial. That's why she felt so threatened at first when she saw Shaun. Plus he never wanted to get physical with her. She kinda figured it out.

just watched this movie...wow...it was a really well done, touching movie. Not like other gay themed movies that's for sure.

This is definitely a movie that could have repeated viewings and not get old. It was just a really sweet story...I loved the dynamic between Zach and his nephew Cody...it just added so much to the character of Zach's personality.

quick question though....after Zach and Shaun's first kiss...when Zach is at the beach getting changed at his car and he looks over at the other guy and gives him a head nod....who is that? I can't figure out who the actor is. I have a feeling it's Dom from Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency but I can't find him listed in any cast list.

I noticed it was Dominic too. IMO the hottest model @ JDMA. Yea i think he's not credited. but that is definitely him. It was so random.

The producers had a little pressure to provide some eye candy so the hired some extras from the Janice Dickenson modeling agency. They thank the agency in the closing credits. I think I've seen this movie more times than I've seen the Wizard of Oz! The best gay movie ever in my opinion. God I wish there was a part two!

Dude, that movie was so good!!
I don't really have experience with gay films, but from what you guys say, lots of them suck! I hope this one paves the way for more great movies!
I just like how it's not really derivative and filled with gay stereotypes (ie, over-the-top flamboyance, AIDS, trannies, etc), or cheapens the story with borderline porn sex scenes. It's a simple story, enhanced by great acting and good directing and music. Hell, everything about this movie was great! Gonna watch it again tonight...
I was pretty down for a week or so, but I watched this movie, and it really brought me out of that and made me feel better than I've felt in a while. I dunno, I guess I kinda identify with Zach's character or something.

I saw this movie in the Movie theatre. It was a great movie.

This movie is definitely a classic movie, just like Latter Days. It could be watched over and over again.

^Oh god. Please don't compare Shelter to Latter Days. Latter Days has very hot leads , hot sex, some decent elements to the story that were executed strangely(Mormon brainwashing) and just flat-out weird shit (i.e. the best friend's music career and the whole restaurant nonsense). I wouldn't call it a classic by any means. But as far as gay movies go it is tops only cuz their usually horrendous. On the other there's nothing wrong with Shelter.

The only thing I had a problem with was something that seemed a bit out of character, was Shaun outing Zack to Gabe. I guess he knew Gabe would be understanding but still kinda weird for me. But I guess in reality good smart people make those mistakes.
