The Official "Shelter" Movie Thread! [merged]

Guys,
I just got the DVD today. The special features are excellent! There is a feature commentary with the director, Trevor Wright & Brad Rowe. It's like watching the movie with them. They are so funny and you learn so much about what happened while they were filming. They get along great and there was some real chemistry there. Then there is a featurette, a behind the sceens look at the making of the movie with cast interviews. Lots of Treavor & Brad! I got it a little early but it will be released on the 27th. If you like the movie it is a must have!

^Oh god. Please don't compare Shelter to Latter Days. Latter Days has very hot leads , hot sex, some decent elements to the story that were executed strangely(Mormon brainwashing) and just flat-out weird shit (i.e. the best friend's music career and the whole restaurant nonsense). I wouldn't call it a classic by any means. But as far as gay movies go it is tops only cuz their usually horrendous. On the other there's nothing wrong with Shelter.

The only thing I had a problem with was something that seemed a bit out of character, was Shaun outing Zack to Gabe. I guess he knew Gabe would be understanding but still kinda weird for me. But I guess in reality good smart people make those mistakes.

I don't think Zack outed him but I do believe that Gabe did figure out that something was going on between them.

As for Latter Days I didnt find anything weird about it and thought it was great. I agree that many gay themed films aren't that great however there are a good amount of decent ones out there. Shelter wasn't perfect but but it is definitely on the list of good gay movies...|

watched it last night, such a beautiful story, probably the best gay themed movie I've seen...

I have to agree. The acting was superb! Trevor is an excellent actor and even won two awards for this role! The actress that played his sister was amazing as well. She played it so fierce! I hated her character in the movie. What an excellent cast.

"Shelter" was a great movie. Have to get the DVD so I'll be able to watch it again. I hope there will be more Gay movies like this. If you haven't seen this movie I urge you to. You will definitely enjoy this movie.

I think the fact that this movie has 3 JUB thread pages and only positive praise says a lot about not only the quality of the movie but the lack of other good movies like it to gush over.

I saw a kinda bad review of it the other day. Much of the complaint was not enough nudity. I was so pissed. This was not supposed to be a porn.

I'm in the middle of watching it again now and I love every goddamn frame. The song during the sex scene is so incredibly powerful..... this movie is brilliant.

SHELTER IS ON YOUTUBE!!

check it now, before they take it down!

to find it, search "Sh3lter"

Jacob and I watched this movie last night on a friend's laptop by a bonfire...we loved it.

I don't claim to be an expert on what good acting is but Trevor sold that role like it was part of him. Totally believable. The way he delivered the lines, the stress he put on parts of a sentence...even the facial expressions. I hope to see a lot more of him.

The story was damn near perfect.

Loved the movie!!!

Double ditto.

Trevor was great. He made the movie for me. I too hope to see more of him. He is a good actor.

I wish there were more movies like this. Not the usual cliche crap.

This movie rocked!!!!!!! I went out and got a second copy as a backup or maybe give to a friend as a gift. Its just a great movie that reminds us of how we have to hide our love for another person, when there are people breathing down our necks. The scene that got to me was the one were he was fighting his feelings if he should go to Shaun's house or not and then he goes there and then they start kissing. Then the following morning he gets up and leaves, and while he is driving, he starts smiling and being all happy. I love that scene. The music is also amazing.

This was the most romantic movie i had ever seen... i loved it so much i had to hunt down and download that ballad that was sung during the bed scene... fucking brilliant!!!

Just finished watching it with the BF. I thought it was great.

As others have said it had a story with some depth which is rare for gay movies or, in truth, for all movies.

Far far better than Latter Days.

Another gay movie which I'd say is its equal is Loggerheads.

BTW I think Gabe figured it out on his own as did Zack's girlfriend.

When she says at the end that she's known for awhile I figure she knows from being with him but not being with him if you know what I mean. ;)

So I don't post much, but here it goes. I watched it last night, and I must say I loved it. I don't mean to say that it was perfect, or something really heady, but I spent all night thinking about it, and I think that's the point of a good movie. It was a bit predictable and there were a few awkward moments that made me cringe, but it left me thinking.

My favorite scene is when they're in the bed, it's bright white, and both them say something along the lines, "I'm so happy to be here". It was such a statement to me that I stopped it, walked outside a bit, and came back. I admit it, I never thought I would really need or feel like I need a relationship like this, but this movie has turned my thoughts a bit. If anything, it's a bit lonelier now. It was a beautiful film, though, and I thank everyone here for suggesting it!

I downloaded it a few nights ago. I agree with just about you said...It's such a beautiful film. I have never be so profoundly moved by a film. I have been listening to the soundtrack for the last day or so. It's so spiritual my connection to these characters, I feel so deeply affected by this film. It's brightened and both saddened me. Life here at my small Ohio school is difficult, and this film makes me believe that happiness is possible. It's make me sad, but it's a positive, bittersweet feeling. I'm definitely buying this DVD, as well as the OST.

I loved this movie, still trying to find somewhere to download so I can see in my computer without having to click 9 parts in youtube :), but Igotta say one of the best darn gay movies out there with a deep meaning.
