I gave it a listen today. It's pretty good. She obviously has a new range, and thankfully, the material matches it. She does reach for high notes from time to time - not classic Whitney high ones, but just higher than the rest - and her voice quickly thins out when she does. But for the most part, she's settled into more of a mid-late 80s Patti LaBelle-sort of sound, which suits her. The only missteps seem to be when the material goes uptempo - those songs sound like an unpleasant mish-mash of club music from the 70s through today. The drums especially sound dated on those, and not really in a fun retro sort of way. I don't think Whit-Whit needs to stick with nothing but ballads and midtempo numbers, but the uptempo songs don't have to be "club-ready", either. Still, a sold outing. :)

Have a feeling its going to flop. Very little promotion for a superstar that has been absent for 7 years. I am sensing a Michael Jackson "Invincible" case or a repeat of Just Whitney.

Judging by the way things have been going, Whitney definitely aint gonna flop. Her album has been at the top of the charts and pre-order lists all across the board for A WHILE. With little to no promotion on Whitney's part, no appearances, and NO video out. That's pretty remarkable. The album is selling solely on just Whitney's name and hype alone so far. And STILL at the top of every chart. Definitely doesn't look like a flop to me.

And she does look incredible on that Ebony cover! ..|

The woman is alive and using the gift that God gave her. It doesn't matter how the album performs (although #1 on iTunes is a very good sign). This is a celebration for Whitney and all of us that have kept the faith over the years.

I just saw her performance on youtube and I must say she sounded better at Clive Davis' Grammy party and that is not saying much.

I really like the uptempo songs that I've heard, the ballads I'm not so fond of because her voice just isn't what it was. But the upbeat numbers are very enjoyable.

It's been announced that after almost seven years of silence, Whitney Houston will sit on Oprah's couch as the first guest on 24th season opener of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," according to People.com. The multi-Grammy Award-winning songstress will have her latest album, "I Look To You," out by then (it debuts on August 31) and it's predicted she will talk about her life during the time that she's been away from the music industry. The show is slated to air on September 14. In the meantime, Houston has been throwing listening parties for her album in cities across the country.—WLW
