Whitney was the first female artist ever to have TWO diamond certified albums. END OF STORY.

Her SECOND album (not a soundtrack) became the first album by a female artist in music history to debut at #1 in the US and UK album chart while ALSO hitting #1 in several other countries. END OF STORY.

And "kind of overrated"? :rotflmao: She broke and held about every record there was during her peak and SET countless others. Many of which STILL haven't been broken today and never will be. She was the FIRST FEMALE ARTIST to do a lot. Boy you better ask somebody WHO KNOWS. "Overrated" my ass. :rotflmao:

I totally agree with you, her vocals are one of a kind. And she can definitely blow, as Randy Jackson would say. :)
I only know of one incident where Whitney sang, and that was when she sand the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
BUT, most all National Anthem being performed at the Super Bowl are lyp-synced.

I honestly don't think anyone one much cares bout Whitney in 2009. I'm sure the producers and shit can save her voice on the cd but really anyone who knows the drugs and shit has to honestly know that her vocals are done.

Every major news outlet has reported about Whitney simply SETTING an album release date. Even the local news is reporting it in many areas. I could have sworn that either mid-late last year, she put out a single with Akon that was either a preview for an upcoming album that was shelved, or perhaps a preview what was supposed to come... it was really awful too. The vocals were weak, the song, forgettable.. I'm pretty positive that the track was released to radio outlets for spins but because of lack of interest, it died really quickly.

I love Whitney but her last full album was so short (I think it clocked in at just over half an hour) and the only track that was a semi hit on AC stations was "Try It On My Own" which didn't really do much for her. It was more of a smash in the gay clubs because they remixed it. Her vocals were definitely weak on that album too. I really hope she can pull off a comeback but I don't really know if vocal chords can be repaired after being abused by crack?

Once it's gone.. it's gone.

And even if she does get some "tweaking", she definitely wouldn't be the first. Most artists probably do, and studio magic was all over Mariah's Emancipation cd. And it sold...even when she wasn't able to match the records live.

That's not an assumption. She could not even speak at the Grammy's because her voice was so shot; I'm not even exaggerating as her voice cracked while she was talking and trying to hold herself together. If she's cracking that much by simply talking, what's it going to be like when she's in the studio trying to push her voice to its limits?

In addition, the last time that I did see her perform live, she was not able to utilize her upper register and she could not achieve a full crescendo. Again, that is not an assumption, that is a fact. Considering her hectic schedule that she used to have, the drug abuse, aging, and the poor singing technique she used to have, they had to use studio enhancements on her voice. It's not that Whitney cannot sing at all, it's just that her voice is pretty much gone. In other words, even if the psychology is there, the physiology has been taken away.

The voice can only take so much damage; it has its limits as well. Those aforementioned factors have all contributed to what I have heard in appearances by Whitney within the past few years. I'm not saying that she cannot sing, but to truthfully expect that her voice is going to be what it was in her prime is absurd.

Concerning Mariah Carey, I am fully aware that they had to use studio enhancements with her voice. Her voice is shot as well and she has a difficult time matching the studio versions when she performs live. My point is not a matter of whether or not it sold, it's the expectation that she is going to be the Whitney Houston of the 80s and 90s.

This should be interesting. It'll be interesting to see if she can comeback with a hit. She hasn't been able to so far, but we'll see. I don't think any of the "other little divas" should be worried about much. lol.

have you been living under a rock? She divorced Bobby some time ago, she did went to rehab and is coming back clean. The drug jokes and comments are so old!
Look at Michael Jackson, there is no crazier celeb then him and he sold out 50 concerts, so Whitney will be fine:) she's a strong woman!

some people act like Whitney is a has been artist but she had only one flop and that's Just Whitney, all her other albums have gone multi-platinum. A lot of todays Diva's have had bad selling albums are thery are still around(like Madonna, Mariah,Celine ect)

My gilr is back and she's back to show it's done!
