She sounded fine; she was a little winded at a few points, but her actual singing was still great. Her voice has changed, mainly because of the drug abuse, but that's completely different than saying she was not able to sing.

lol....nice try, but she still sounded fine. Disastrous? Not so much. Compare her voice here to her voice on the cd version of this song. She sounds just like the record. And like rinlakeworth said, she was obviously flustered and distracted and got thrown off her game because of the wardrobe malfunction. And I'm sure she knew her dress wasn't completely right before she even hit the stage, so her mind was probably on trying not to come out of it. She was obviously nervous and distracted....

The diva of all divas Whitney Houston and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole showed the X Factor wannabes how it's done on tonight's live results show.

After a week of 'will she or won't she be singing live' debates in the tabloids, Cheryl performed her debut single "Fight for This Love".

And what a performance it was. Clearly singing live (but with a little help of a backing track too), the boys' mentor proved her voice is up to scratch and even showed off some sexy dance moves.

That before US megastar Whitney Houston made her UK comeback, with new track "Million Dollar Bill".

Showing the powerful vocal talents of old, Houston - who has battled drug addictions in recent times - looked back to her best when performing.

She even had to contend with the back of her dress snapping mid-way through the routine but like a true pro she carried on.

It's just a shame she didn't show the same star quality when speaking to Dermot O'Leary.

Looking slightly nervous when quizzed by the X Factor host, Whitney took a while to answer each of his questions and seemed a little uneasy when put on the spot.

First Robbie's eyes in week one, then Whitney's nerves tonight... just what is that X Factor stage doing to these superstars?

Awesome and hitting all the notes. If she had opted to sing a ballad instead on X Factor, her voice would have had a chance to really shine like it did here. But "Million Dollar Bill" doesn't leave much room to work with vocally. And by her doing all that moving around and using up energy, it only takes away from her focus of the vocals. And her wardrobe malfunction only made things worse.

The X Factor continued to dominate Sunday night ratings, overnight viewing figures show.

Last night's show, in which Cheryl Cole and Whitney Houston performed live, pulled in an impressive 13.17m (46.7%) for ITV1 between 7.45pm and 9pm, marking a new high for the series.

Whitney Houston Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction On UK TV, Kills It Anyway

The road to a comeback isn't without its challenges, as Whitney Houston learned first-hand on Saturday (October 17) during a performance on English television show "X-Factor" (an "American Idol"-esque show produced by Simon Cowell). Houston, who recently hit Oprah's couch and took over the "Good Morning America" stage in order to promote her new comeback album I Look to You, experienced a wardrobe malfunction during an energetic performance of the Swizz Beatz-produced "Million Dollar Bill."

The legendary singer appeared in front of a cheering crowd Friday, wearing a sparking silver dress with straps in the back. Halfway through the song, the straps suddenly became untied. The mishap seemed to catch Whit off-guard for about half a second, but in true diva style, she simply shrugged at the camera and plowed through the rest of the song. Luckily for her, the front half off her dress managed to stay in tact throughout the whole fiasco, and it didn't stop her from hitting all her high notes and staying in the pocket of the tune's infectious groove.

After she wrapped up the song, Houston laughed off the malfunction to "X-Factor" host Dermot O'Leary: "I sang myself out of my clothes!" she said. It took the poise of a true diva to work her way through that, which is why there is no doubt the Houston still has it, and that her performance - combined with the excellent video for "Million Dollar Bill" - means that the comeback is complete.

Was this pic taken at Madame Tussauds' because Whitney looks like a wax figure. And what's with that tacky outfit, is she wearing acid wash mom jeans? Guess you can take the girl out of Jersey but you can't...tacky , tacky , tacky.

It wasn't great but it was good. I was forced to watch it by my mother. She started off shaky but by the end she was making good notes. It's a decent start, although she really sounded sluggish in the interview and we were definately thinking she's pregnant from the apparent bump from the dress and the not going mental onm stage.

Simon Cowell is rarely lost for words – but then it’s not often he gets an ear-bashing from Whitney Houston.

The pop superstar left TV’s Mr Nasty quaking like a naughty schoolboy after Saturday’s X Factor.

We hear Simon has nicknamed her “lip” – and now we know why.

It seems Whitney, who performed her comeback single Million Dollar Bill on the ITV1 talent show, was none too happy with Simon’s choice of song for one of his contestants.

He gave Daniel Johnson her song I Didn’t Know My Own Strength to sing – before she’d even had a chance to perform it live herself.

Turns out Whitney, 46, was saving the brand new power ballad to premiere on her upcoming tour. D’oh!

Still, it didn’t stop Simon, 50, waiting outside her dressing room in the hope that she would have her picture taken with him, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue.

As she came outside and eyed him up and down, Whitney told Simon: “You look guilty.” We hear he just blushed and didn’t know which where to look. Bless!

Then she planted a kiss on his cheek and he was soon smiling like a kid in a sweet shop. He then presented her with a set of Jo Malone scented goodies and Whitney, whose new album I look To You is out this week, was over the moon.

Our spy reveals: “You’d never guess that anyone could leave Simon speechless – he usually has contestants quivering in their boots. But he got a taste of his own medicine with Whitney.

“They had a lot of playful chemistry and got on like a house on fire.”

Simon himself gushed: “Whitney was a total superstar. I loved having her on the show. I hope she comes back every year.”

If she does, hopefully her dress will behave itself – it sprang open onstage. She joked: “I sang the hell out of my dress.. I’m just glad everything else stayed intact!”

Whitney also revealed a soft spot for contestant Rachel Adedeji. Watching from the wings as Rachel sang for survival, she declared: “That girl better not get voted out. She can sing.”
