Jordin Sparks was interviewed on the American Country Awards red carpet and she spoke about 'Sparkle" and how Whitney did "phenomenal" in her role and how she thinks people are going to be very excited to see how she did in the movie and to see her (Jordin) in her first film role. Jump to 1:43.

Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown’s Dealer Tells All

Drug Dealer Spills The Dirt

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s former drug dealer is spilling the beans about the couple’s drug use back in the day. Joey Diaz who claimed he used to sell cocaine to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown went on the radio and talked about the coke he sold them in the 90′s.

Joey Diaz told The Joe Rogen Experience that he used to sell Whitney and Bobby 14 grams of coke a day and that he would pinch an eight ball off each sack for himself and that pretty soon he had so much pilfered coke he couldn’t snort it all.

Take a listen:

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLsS5u8m-qI&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

http://www.joerogan.net/

^ At this point, who really cares HOW MUCH drugs they did? Whitney already admitted using and "partying" on Diane Sawyer in 2003 and laid it all out in grave detail on Oprah in 2009. We all know she did it and we all know she was fucked up over the years. So there's really no interesting story left on this subject. And if she's so irrelevant, why would you care? ;)

The only real interesting information that comes from this dude is that RICKY MARTIN used to get high with Whitney and Bobby back in their dark days. Now THAT is the real shocker. That Ricky was a coke head just like Whitney & Bobby (and hell, half of the rest of the entertainment industry...people just don't know about them).

That was over 10 years ago, though, and all three of them are in a much better place now and Whitney is back to looking great again and sounding better. And has new projects coming out next year. Watch out for them (we know you will be). Yay! (!)

Pop Making Sense: Musicians and the movies

by David Byrne with Tony Peregrin
2011-12-14

There is Oscar buzz in the air, but there also is talk of upcoming films about beloved musicians as well as singers venturing into acting and artists contributing new songs to movies.

Warner Bros. announced that it intends to remake the 1992 hit The Bodyguard. Fear not: The storyline will be modernized as the stalker will be taunting the diva through online media and social websites.

Rihanna is rumored to be reprising Whitney Houston's role. My vote goes to a Chicago vocal powerhouse who has proven she can act and be vulnerable: Jennifer Hudson. As far as actresses who can sing, there are Jane Krakowski, the ageless Vanessa Williams, Mandy Moore and everybody on Glee. Let's hope the reboot will steer clear of casting Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Madonna and Janet Jackson have been box-office draws in the past, but belting out a power ballad like Houston? Only if the new spin on The Bodyguard is science fiction.

Houston returns to the big screen in the update of Sparkle, with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks in the lead role. Although Houston made a comeback with her 2009 album I Look to You, the subsequent tour left fans irate, as her weathered voice could not deliver. Hopefully Sparkle will have her back in our good graces.

Reese Witherspoon's production company purchased the rights to Peggy Lee's story. The sultry singer-songwriter and actress scored multiple hits like "Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)," "Why Don't You Do Right" and "Fever," which topped the club charts in 1993, thanks to Madonna. In the '90s, Lee won a legal battle over Walt Disney for proper royalties for her contributions to the animated classic Lady and the Tramp.

The biopic will be based on Miss Peggy Lee: An Autobiography. The Legally Blonde actress won an Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter in Walk the Line.

Openly gay disco siren Sylvester is said to be the topic of an upcoming movie and documentary. Joshua Gamson wrote the biography The Fabulous Sylvester in 2005 and an episode of TVOne's Unsung is devoted to the late singer. Sylvester performed in the San Francisco drag troupe The Cockettes and then scored dance hits with "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," "Dance (Disco Heat)" and "Do You Wanna Funk." In 1988 he died from AIDS-related complications.

Liberace's life is being transformed into a motion picture as well. Michael Douglas will portray the flamboyant pianist and Matt Damon will play his lover.

Making a transition from the stage to the big screen is Rock of Ages. The cast certainly is a motley crew, with Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis and pro wrestler Kevin Nash. Rock of Ages is due out June 2012.

Similarly, the successful musical Jersey Boys is pegged to be turned into a film as well.

Another adaptation of Les Miserables is in the works, too; this time it will be a musical. The latest take is slated to have Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter and Russell Crowe on board.

Clint Eastwood is planning on helming a new version of A Star is Born with Beyoncé. Leonardo DiCaprio previously was tied to the project. Hollywood has seen three previous incarnations of this story of a singer's rise to fame with Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand in the lead role respectively.

Producer Graham King stated that the long-awaited piece with Sacha Baron Cohen as Queen's frontman, Freddie Mercury, is moving forward. Filming is scheduled to start next year per cinemablend.com.

Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton square off against each other as rivaling choir directors in the musical comedy Joyful Noise, which will be in theaters Jan. 13.

Got "Tennessee Homesick Blues?" Parton's music can be heard in the upcoming DVD release of the family drama The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mom, and she is the centerpiece of the gay documentary Hollywood to Dollywood.

Last year Trent Reznor shed his industrial image by scoring The Social Network. After winning an Oscar for his work, Reznor is scoring the remake to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Both movies feature David Fincher as the director.

In the film's trailer, Karen O. of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Atticus Ross join the man behind Nine Inch Nails for a cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Immigrant Song." This cut will be on the official soundtrack as is a remake of Bryan Ferry's "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" Few recall that Reznor had a cameo as a keyboardist sporting shoulder pads in Joan Jett's 1987 movie, Light of Day.

Madonna directs the period piece W.E. and rumor has it that she also is contributing the ballad "Masterpiece" to be played during the end credits.

I patiently wait for Sophie B. Hawkins' forthcoming album, The Crossing, which will be out Feb. 28. In the meantime, her new track "Life Is a Bomb" can be heard in New Year's Eve, the unofficial sequel to the star-studded Valentine's Day.

The works of Sinead O'Connor have appeared on multiple soundtracks, such as In Name of the Father, Veronica Guerin and You've Got Mail. The Irish songbird returns with "Lay Your Head Down" for Albert Nobbs, in which Glenn Close stars as the titular character. This should keep fans' interest piqued until O'Connor releases her album of new material, How About I Be Me & You Be You.

Warner Bros.Next year, Warner Home Entertainment will bring The Bodyguard to Blu-ray. This box-office hit stars Whitney Houston (Waiting to Exhale) as a fragile pop star who falls in love with the ex-Secret Service agent (Kevin Costner, The Untouchables) hired to protect her from an obsessive fan.

During the 1993 Oscar Ceremonies, the film was nominated twice in the Best Original Song category for "I Have Nothing" and "Run to You."

Warner has not yet listed the technical or supplementary specifications for this Blu-ray.

The Bodyguard is expected to street on April 10th, 2012.

Nathan Kress’ Christmas Traditions

December 13, 2011 | by Nickutopia Staff

Nathan-Kress-Christmas-Traditions.jpg

The holidays are upon us and “iCarly” star Nathan Kress has begun celebrating with his family. Last night, he revealed one of his Christmas traditions to his fans, tweeting:

Watching “The Preacher’s Wife” with the family! Let the Christmas traditions begin :)

Fun! A romantic dramedy, “The Preacher’s Wife” stars Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston. Nathan later gave his thoughts on Whitney:

Hot dang. Whitney Houston has one seriously silky-smooth voice…

What do you think? Have you seen “The Preacher’s Wife?” Do you have any holiday traditions?

Singer/producer Claude Kelly talks about working w/ Whitney Houston and how her voice has changed:

You get a lot more insight. In many ways, Claude Kelly affirms some of the things we've learned about Whitney in terms of her needing to feel a song to be able to sing it, and her funny personality. Whitney's advice to Claude Kelly was simple but insightful, once the DJ probed a bit further so that was good. It was also interesting to hear a bit about 'For The Lovers' and it sounded like Whitney wasn't completely taken having initially recorded the track but really loved it once produced.

The part about Whitney's voice gave me the impression that either Claude Kelly had had the conversation with Whitney (in terms of people expecting her to sound like it's 1985 or 1992 still) or he's just been really close to the ground and heard what some fans/critics have been saying. To put Whitney's voice in context with Dionne, Aretha and Cissy helps spell out two important facts: one, that she can be named with the greats and two, despite all the drama (the marriage, the drugs) Whitney is human and her voice reflects her humanity. That last point comes through especially clearly when Claude Kelly talks about the criticism from within the black community and the high standards set there. I'm not saying I think it's the black community that is only projecting an opinion of Whitney's voice though as his comment is his own reflection of the community whereas Whitney Houston is quite clearly a universal artist that crossed all race/colour boundaries many years ago. Her supporter and critics come in all colours, shapes and sizes. :)

ASCAP Members Kick-Start the Holiday Music Season with the Top Ten Most-Played Songs

"Sleigh Ride" Tops List, Having Been Played Nearly 65,000 Times Since October 1

HolidaySongs.jpg

New York, NY, December 6, 2011:
Nothing raises peoples' spirits - and inspires shoppers' zeal for finding the perfect gift - like holiday music. That's why radio stations around the country are eager to start playing America's most beloved holiday songs earlier and earlier each year. ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has just released its list of most-played songs of the 2011 holiday season. For the second year in a row, "Sleigh Ride" tops the list of songs, which were all written or co-written by members of ASCAP.

"ASCAP is home to America's greatest songwriters and composers," says ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams. "So it is no wonder that the top holiday songs have been written by our members. This list reflects the enduring power of music. It's a beautiful thing to realize that a songwriter's work lives on in such a way, bringing happiness and meaning to millions of people's lives year after year."

Since October 1, 2011, "Sleigh Ride" has aired 64,317 times, making it the most-played holiday song on radio so far this holiday season. Although it depicts a wondrous winter scene, "Sleigh Ride" was written originally by Leroy Anderson on a hot summer day in 1946 in Woodbury, CT. Initially composed as an instrumental piece, The Boston Pops Orchestra gave the first performance in a concert conducted by Arthur Fiedler at Symphony Hall in Boston, May 4, 1948, and Mills Music published it that same year. The Boston Pops Orchestra recorded it in June of 1949. After Mitchell Parish added lyrics in 1949, it has been recorded by perhaps the most eclectic range of performers than any other piece in western music, with Leroy Anderson's recording the most popular instrumental version and The Ronettes' recording as the most popular vocal version.

The top 10 most-played holiday songs so far this holiday season are listed below, all written or co-written by ASCAP songwriters and composers. Each song includes songwriter credits, and cites the most popular artist version played on radio to date.
