To know that that voice is gone forever is truly a sad thing. She had, in my opinion, the best singing voice on this earth. It's so sad she didn't nurture it.

This is such sad news. I was a fan of hers for many years. Saw her perform in concert once and knew she was having problems...her performance was awful. Then the news of addictions came out in the press. She battled her inner demons for so many years and in the end, the demons won, it seems.

I'm still in shock. I never thought Whitney would die so young. This is so unexpected. She has always been an amazing singer and will live on forever. I can't believe I'm saying this, but rest in peace, Whitney.

No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died -- at least not yet -- but prescription drugs were present, and it's possible the singer drowned in the bathtub ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us ... when EMTs arrived Whitney's body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD'd, drowned or died from some other cause.

Informed sources tell us ... Beverly Hills cops -- who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted -- found various pill bottles. There was no evidence that Whitney was drinking alcohol in the room.

Whitney's body was just removed from the room on a gurney. It will go to the morgue for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

This passing seems harder for me than Michael Jackson's. Michael kind of asked to be killed by taking anesthesia to go to sleep. I know Whitney had drug problems, but so do a lot of people.

Same here, I was really hoping she'd finally come out of the spiral of drugs and rehab and return to the amazing form that stole my heart back in the 80s. Really sad news.
