5:32 p.m.
- Ive been posting the photos and not watching the start of the Oscars. There was a recording conflict and the first 30 minutes hasnt been recorded. Ill have to record the 8 p.m. episode

there isnt a re-airing.

Ugh. The usual procession of fashion car-crashes. Of course, good taste is jettisoned for the sake of being the most talked-about.

Amy Schumer looks like a Boxing Day table runner and Timothée Chalamet looks like he's just stepped off the stage after doing the rumba on Dancing With The Stars...

Simu Liu's looking delish, however...

Did serena borrow mila kunis' foundation? She's like 9 shades too light.

Also you missed tiffany hadish's miss.

Also also kristen stewart looks like expensive trash.

I meant to post Colman Domingo. He didnt make the photo gallery

Colman2BDomingo2Bstepped2Bout2Bfor2BOscars2Bawards2B1a.png

I googled 'Colman oscars' and in the results, it named Olivia Colman as Best Actress. I knew she was up for an award, but the show is nowhere near over, how is she the winner?

I just realized that they showed her winning in a different year. Oops

Damn it, missed the punch.

Off to YouTube i go.

. . . I fast forwarded over Chris Rock. I'm just not that into him.

[off to search for the 25 minutes I missed because I was pretty-ing this thread ;-)

there seemed to be a strange edit on the youtube where will smith was smiling and then was storming the stage. my guess is that it took a moment for will smith to associate the joke (rightly or wrongly) with his wife's medical condition. or---will smith was possessed by richard williams. or---it was a stunt (which I doubt). I know there was an apology later by will smith. i've read it but i haven't listened to it. the apology was to the academy and not to chris rock??? my thought was who hasn't wanted to smack chris rock at least once during one of his comedy performances???

i liked will smith in king richard. but i didn't like the richard character at all. i liked mrs. williams so much more. anytime she was on screen it was a better movie.

Well at least there is something to talk about from the Oscars tonight...

Like the fact we won't be seeing Will Smith invited to any awards ceremonies again.

Totally uncalled for and he should be tossed out of the Academy.

Wil was defending his wife's honor. She has alopecia (hair loss) and it was a tacky joke.

That punch seemed very controlled and calculated to do the least amount of damage- in an almost choreographed sense; and the recipient seemed oddly prepared for it... There was not even a hint of reeling, no delay to process immediately afterwards; just instant reaction...

A friend of mine who worked in the television and film industry for 30 years once told me, "Never trust what you see on the screen; not even when it's being presented as factual." Not saying it was a stunt, but with public interest in the Oscars flagging in recent years, I wouldn't put it past them.

no charges have been filed by rock. therefore no police investigation.

i don't think the event was orchestrated. however the joke was probably planned ahead to provoke some kind of response. maybe even so far as will smith standing up and shouting. but physical violence? i don't think that was in the cards. as i said smith apologized to the academy but not to rock.

as for will smith being drummed out the academy until people affiliated with all the bad movies that hollywood makes are drummed out first, will smith can stay. i was more offended by the ridiculous unprofessionalism that led to the initial la la land over moonlight mistake. i liked moonlight way more than king richard.

Chris Rock had no idea she has alopecia---he has made jokes about the couple and flop movie GI Jane for years. Will has issues---he's an entitled asshole.

Well, I even wonder if Chris Rock himself wrote the joke. I don't know if he has writers or does everything himself. Regardless he should have paid better attention.

I don't support Will Smith striking Chris Rock. And probably Will Smith has issues. But probably that's also why he saw an affinity with Richard Williams. Based on actors' histories, few of them are saints. Including Smith.

The jokes for the presenters are not only written in advance, they are also performed in the rehearsals. The question is whether the joke was one of the pre-vetted jokes or whether it was improvised. Either way, everyone who was at the rehearsals would have known that there was going to be jokes that poked fun at the nominees.

The thing that everyone is forgetting is that Will and Jada boycotted the Oscars a few years back and Chris Rock called them out for it. Remember #OscarsSoWhite?

The 2022 joke was a nowhere near as rough as the #OscarsSoWhite jokes:

"Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties. I wasn't invited."

"Jada's mad her man Will was not nominated for 'Concussion'. I get it. It's not fair that Will was this good and didn't get nominated. It's also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for 'Wild Wild West.'"
