Why settle for a basic build of your Firefox browser on Windows Operating Systems when you can have one that performs 25% faster? Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, while many Linux ("from scratch") users get the advantage of a browser built specifically for their system. That needs to change! So, here is the Pale Moon project: Custom-built and optimized Firefox browsers for Windows Operating Systems. Make sure to get the most speed out of your browser!

Of course, getting a faster browser is not just about optimizing the compilation process (building a program from its source code), but also about carefully choosing features and how to choose the best setup. This means that this browser, however extremely close to Firefox, does not have all the functions that Firefox has. A few, carefully selected, features have been disabled that are not in high demand, and that do not interfere with the way web pages are displayed or function; all to maximize speed and efficiency of the browser. Please see the page with technical details to learn exactly what the browser supports, and what it doesn't support. In short, if you need accessibility features or parental controls, then please visit the firefox homepage and get the official, non-optimized build.

To download the current version* of the Pale Moon browser, please go to the download page.

I personally have tested this out (using it right now actually) and it DOES do all that it claims to do. It's freaking awesome and zips along really quickly. Has anyone tested this out too or am I the only one?

Oh and this is my second week of testing so it's good so far! (!)

what kind of hot air is this

so I downloaded the zip. and what is in it? I thought maybe a clever source-code compilation wizard or something like that for inexperienced users.
but nope .. it's a binary. wohoo .. they compiled FF with a few different flags. that's not what they were promising - nothing there is specifically built for my system. it's not even anywhere close to what you have in a lsf (linux from scratch).

I like my firefox a lot, and have never had speed troubles on my computer. I'll watch it and see how it comes along...(teehee i made a funny)(if you don't get the funny, look at my name silly)

If your looking for the Installer, not the Zip file, simply scroll down on the web page and download from any of the hosting places or click HERE to download via Softpedia.

.

^ the installer just copies files as well. there is no optimization other than leaving certain parts out of FF. this has nothing to do with compiling your own binary.

um .. no? i'm just saying that you do not get what they promise. that binary package is not built specifically for my system. the comparison to lsf (linux from scratch) is wrong.

Don't see what the big deal is. But hey .. bitching always helps. If you're done with it, just deinstall it.

hu? i was looking into it because what they promised seemed interesting. turns out it's definitely not what they say it is .. so it's not just "not working", there is no point in trying this.

It works great for me. It is faster than my regular Firefox and that's even after I tweaked the speeds of my regular Firefox so I don't know what you are smoking Corny.

I'm not smoking anything (you of all hinting at that is a comedy act on it's own .. ). Maybe it is faster, simply because they left things out. BUT it is NOT compiled specifically for my machine. They have ONE version for everyone. So they ARE lying in their statement.
I bet you don't even have a clue what linux from scratch is (yeah .. now you'll google it )
