Are these done through PM's? I have not seen personal attacks. I did see a post today about a nasty PM message. If someone is continually nasty, maybe the administrators should be notified. I would assume that they probably have the ability to block their IP address, if necessary.

I hope the good guys remain,and we also get some wonderful new guys to always give us freshness,rejuvenation,and diversity.The return of great posters here with the class and presence of Gery and ds_writr will be something that can happily occur on the horizon.The negative nasties win when the really great genuine people of JUB no longer feel welcome or relevant here.This great community board deserves far better.

I'm talking to Gery right now on my messenger. This is what he told me to say to everyone.

I appreciate everyone's concern and support, but I don't plan on returning any time soon. I feel that JUB and I no longer have anything to offer each other.

I know I'll be nailing my ass to the wall with this post but here it goes....

It's not just through private messages, people on a certain board post something nasty almost everyday in it. It might not be a personal attack, but its close to being a really ugly comment about somebody. The Mature Men, Bears, Chubby Men section. If someone doesn't like the type of man that's being displayed on a thread in that section they make it known by posting nasty ugly comments like "ewwww", or "disgusting". I as a member usually report this kind of stuff and a Moderator or Administrator clean it up right away.

Its just sad that this kind of stuff never happens anywhere else ex. (Twink, Muscle, Ethnic boards) it just happens a lot in the section I explaied above. Sorry if I'm ranting but when you look at it, you see a lot of people leaving because of the fighting, the drama, the stupid threads that seem to be popular, I mean its starting to seem like this board is some kind of popularity contest. A LOT of members might disagree with me about that, but thats what I usually see around here. Hopefully I'm not the only who sees it.

You're not. I see it too. But I also see the gems in the mud, the wonderful threads and thoughtful posts that are made by many members. Those are what keeps me coming back. I try to avoid the drama and focus on the good things JUB has to offer - and they are plenty.

Gery was one of the people who posted diamonds and he is greatly missed. I hope he will come back in time, but I will understand if he decides not to.

For me, the all time low for Mature Men bashing on the Mature Men Forum came when some know it all announced that Sean Connery could not qualify as a Groovy Daddy because all men over 45 are geezers and guys who find men over 45 attractive are one small step away from necrophilia.

I really don't understand people that say shit like that. I see the post, and I'm gob smacked! What? Are they going to commit suicide when they reach 30? Can I assist them?

It seems to me like the mods for that section (Mature Men) need to step up a little bit more. I know the mods are busy, and have other lives, but if this kind of stuff is contunally happening, then yes, it is seriously wrong. Maybe us OLD GEEZERS need to go into the twink section and start posting "ewwwww" and "gross" to some of the picks there! It would only be fair play!!

I often lurk and chuckle at his replies. It's too bad he's left. I can relate to the feeling left out of a much younger JUB. I'm all for inclusiveness but can't help but think that sometimes, it would be nice to have a "For Older Gays" forum of sorts (excluding ignorant young 'uns).

Anyway, I'll miss the quirky, funny, sometimes ridiculous but overall entertaining comments that the Pianist makes.

People who post negative comments get warnings but when you post something back to them defending yourself and the many mature men on that board you get an infraction? That is definitely sad and disturbing to see.

As are you,Bradlee.The suggestion regarding Brannie is an inspired,great one.The new people are great,but keeping the heart and soul of Jub,those who really want it to be a community and try to make this the best site possible to feel welcome and have a place for friendship,fun,bantering and support...that is the most important thing.Change is inevitable,some leave while others get hooked,but only we can make JUB the best site for gays and our supporters and friends not only for porn ,but a community that means something a little deeper and more meaningful than a cold gay message board.This may not be real life,but we share our lives and ourselves,so it counts for something.I hope Gery will return soon and be part of keeping us a strong community that all members,old stalwarts who have stuck it through since the LMAO beginnings to the newbies coming into our state of the art,diverse,world class professionally formatted present ,can be proud of.Things may change,but our community and pride will always set JUB from any other gay website.

I, too, am sorry to hear that Gery has decided to take a break. And I'm hoping it is just a break. But, I can do nothing more than support him in his decision, and wish him The Very Best!!

And ... I've also been heartened by all the comments here. Yes, JUB is changing, as does everything that is Vibrant. Some of it will be for the Good, and, hopefully, that Good shall triumph over that which may not be appealing/wanted. I am hoping Gery may return some day to continue contributing to the Good!!

I totally missed all this stuff added to the thread. Gery has been viewing this thread on a regular basis. He was very touched and moved when viewing that video that Ned put up on here.

I recently talked with Gery tonight, and he directed me to his LJ entries which I read and was amazed at how much stuff happened to him this weekend. I won't say what occured but it made me cry so much to the point I was deeply happy for what he's now experienced in his life through this weekend.

After signing off messenger with Gery, he told me that it was rather odd that all this stuff that happened to him happened AFTER he left JUB. I was speechless after he said this because things like that never happened to him while he was attending JUB, when he deleted his account this happened. It makes me think that when I deleted my account from JUB a lot of things happened to me, but when I came back things went back to the way they were.

Maybe it is good that we push ourselves away from JUB, taking a break for a couple of months until we finally come back to the boards. Maybe this is a good example for those who feel nothing goes right in their life to try to take a break from this board so they can focus on their life. Anyways I don't want to lead myself for attack by saying such things.

To Bradlee the past several weeks I've been kind of angry at the posters who love to post their negative opinions, yeah I know its their own personal opinions but why act so dumb to make your post sound as negative and cold hearted as possible? I think your idea is great for somebody to be a mod for that section, I'm not sure I would be good for the job because for a moderator emotions can't go into play which happened today when I got angry at the negative post that at this moment is still in the thread as I type this.

Yeah it would help as someone who knows the section better and contributes a lot to it would be a good enough mod for it. I'm thankful that you consider me to be a moderator for that section. But it all depends on what JD and Seth would think. As we did lose some moderators these past several months and gained some in the process.

That was such a beautiful video! And such beautiful music. I can totally picture Gery being the pianist, as I heard some of his sublime music via Audio in the chat in my earliest days of JUB (around and after Christmas last year).

I miss you Gery! I hope you'll be back one of these days.

Whatever BrandonSBCA is referring to, it sounds like something wonderful has happened in your life, and even not knowing exactly what it is, I can do nothing but feel a strong sense of congratulations to you. If you may ever feel like sharing your marvelous news, I feel that many of us would welcome it. I think you have my email address - it would be great hearing from you.

And sorry that we missed meeting when I wasn't able to get north of ther border recently. Meanwhile, I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses your comments, insights and humor.
